Official ClubHONDA Meet - Deal's Gap July 21st and 22nd 2007

The official date for the meet is July 21st and 22nd 2007 so mark your calendars!

The plan is to have an official ClubHONDA meet and go to Deal's Gap North Carolina.

Working Schedule...
Friday the 20th
Any time after noon - people start to gather at CivicBeater's house.
Sometime that night - we'll go out for some go cart action and food then get some rest.

Saturday the 21st
Morning - get up and start the treck for the gap, stop buy some cool places along the way for photo ops.
Afternoon - get to Deal's Gap, check into our cabins.

Sunday the 22nd
Morning - get up and drive the "Dragon"

Some things to check before you go...
- Check tread on tires
- Check tire pressure
- Check or change oil
- Check water level & hoses in engine bay for condition
- Make sure all exterior plastics/metals are secure
- Check amount of brake pad left. Change pads if needed
- Check brake fluid, if your brake fluid is dark or hasn't been changed in a while, change it
- I'm personally going to change my engine oil, tranny oil, and coolent before the trip, it can't hurt

Some things to bring along...
- Tools
- Oil
- Oil Filter
- Spark Plugs
- AntiFreeze/Water
- Vacum line
- Hose Clamps
- Zip Ties
- Any part that would be hard to replace (ie supercharger belts, turbo hoses)
- Some cash, most places should accept credit but just in case
- FRS Walky Talkie Radio (don't worry you can get good Motorola ones cheap at walmart. I bought some two for $40. this way we can all keep in touch without cell phones which probably won't work.)

Ok i'm going to definately work on getting this together. Just to add to the fun i'll invite some locals.

If people want to crash at my place the day they drive up or down that's cool. Like Al, Rich, mark, justin, ant, whatever (just not billy). What is everyone's feelings on maybe having an official morning meet here in Raleigh (Which is easy for those coming from the north and south) which is close to i-95 (north and south) and i-40 (east and west). Then proceed west towards the gap. We will take the scenic route veering off to take a unforgettable ride on the blue ridge parkway

Then end the long day at our cabin where we can chill, play cards, or go make a bonfire. Then we can decide on taking a few daring people for a night ride through the mountains. scarrrrrrryyyyy

this is what the cabin looks like that we can get.

Two bedrooms. 1 king two twin beds. If people want to sleep on the couch or floor we can really save some money. we had 3 in a cabin and it was like 25 bucks a person. It's close to deals gap and we can head out in the morning for sweet photos in front of the biggest dam east of the mississippi.

Then proceed to deals gap to drive it as much as we want.

I reccomend we plan this for september/october. BEAUTIFUL time of the year. I don't know what Rich is thinking as far as time frame though? are you wanting to do it in the spring,summer, or fall?

Make it a fri-sun meet? so most people just have to take one day off work. Like everyone get into town friday night. Have accommodation's to stay at a hotel or my place (if at my place, be ready to stay up all night playing halo). Have everyone meet EARLY sat. morning at an arranged spot. Then start the caravan west. How does this sound?

In the meantime, everyone save up for good tires, brakes, and a nice suspension

God I am so down for a meet and run through that thing ! The only thing is the time when you guys are wanting to plan this thing. My company closes down for 2 weeks in July if you guys want to go in the summer. As for any other time I am going to have to see how and what is going on at the time of the meet and see if I will be able to break away from work.

I don't know if I will be able to stay the entire weekend either since I will have to work friday. So I probably won't get there until saturday and then would have to leave sunday to get back for monday. The only way I could stay the entire weekend would be to take the 2 weeks back to back which, I might be able to do depending on the time you all choose.

As for time, best for me would be in july but I would really love to do this in the spring before it gets too damn hot, end of may begining of june maybe? We just have to make a set date that we all can live with and I will work something out to get down there.

Thanks for the invite to the house Eric, if room is a problem (depending on how many people are gonna crash) I can always crash at my aunt's, she's just outside of Raleigh. Probably going to stop there anyways since my aunts been bugging me to come anyways so, we'll see when the time comes.

I think we'd all aggree that the summer wouldn't be as much fun with the heat, so that leaves the spring time or fall. once work slows down in a couple weeks I'll take a look at my schedule and get an idea of what would be good for me and we can see if that same time is good for other people too.

hey Eric, what time of year gives us the best chance of clear weather? it would suck to get there and drive through with our wipers on full blast the whole time

I hear you guys. The summer really isn't all that bad though. (not like s. FL!) Remember that when we are over by the gap we are at a pretty decent elevation and in the mountains. Where in the summer high's over 80's is very uncommon. So Honestly, if july works for AL and it seems that he is pretty strapped with schedule let's maybe think about that. Would you then be able to stay fri-sun AL? The winters are actually the more wet part of the year here. I'd really hate for you to drive all that way to turn back the next day. You want to have some rest before you hit the dragon.

I can guarantee that no one will go home dissapointed. It is so much damn fun! Even if you come just to enjoy the sights. It's a blast. A camera is definately a must.

I told the wife tonight that she was getting kicked out so we can cram whoever! hahaha

In july I would be able to stay the whole weekend since my company is closed I can take the 2 weeks, come down maybe tuesday stop at my aunt's meet you guys on friday, chill for the weekend, go back to my aunts for a couple days and head back home wednesday or thurs the following week.

Again, would be easiest for me but it also depends on everyone elses schedule, I don't want everyone else to get strapped up and not be able to come because of this. I would love to get a nice turn out for this. I know it's gonna be a blast and it will be nice to meet you guys finally.

Finally a CH meet that isn't in Florda !! I'd love to do the run and meet up, any time of the year is good for me, my life isn't too exciting so whenever. Hopefully I have my Type R stuff and my Hondata by then, because Ill need some help tuning!!!!
