sounds like a blast of a time .I know I haven't been around at all but the Marine Corps keeps me busy. This trip seems like a needed shot of non-lethality induced adrenaline i could use. So anyone heard of Shulls Mill road near Foscoe N.C.? You guys might want to take a look into it. i'll be haeding back through raleigh on the 20Th from Lejeune this seems like a great way to blow off some steam and chill if you guys will have me.

right now we're planning on driving up thursday unless a bunch of people want to caravan up and can't leave on thurday, then we'll go early friday. I personally hate getting up uber early so I'd rather leave thursday and take my time

that way I can just chill friday till everyone else shows up.

we're only about 700 miles from NC so figure 10 hours of driving at an easy pace. ha ha, just did the match and I'll go through about 28 gallons of gas each way. I'll probably go through about $200 in gas after the round trip and running the gap, oh well, all in good fun

I was talking with some buddies at work and I'm going to grab a couple of handheld radios that they use, like 4 of them. this should help keep the group together and not have to rely on cell phones since I'm sure in some areas we'll get owned on coverage. these are pretty good to, should have a range of a few miles.

Yeah I was going to mention something along those lines with the radios. Good catch! Pretty much the whole time while we are over at the hotel or near the gap you will not have ANY cell phone coverage. So tell the people you typically talk to everyday that you will be MIA for two days. lol

ha ha, I remember not having any coverage when I was in highlands, nc, but I heard there's sprint coverage there now.

well I've got 4 decent little motorolas I can bring, then 4 real deal ones from work I'll snag. if anyone else has any FRS radios go ahead and bring them, we should be set then.

that looks like it could be a good deal. really if everyone can just bring one of their own we'll just match frequencies and be all set, that's probably the best way to do this.

that works too do we know how many people from NC are going to attend?
i might still buy the radios just in case, you never know and hell the kids will have a blast toying with them when i get home. i have 2 other peeps the will be attending with me 1 94 teg ls and one 96 4dr civic. the more the merrier right?

yo Civicbeater check the first post and look at the schedule and let me know what you think. I just put some info there for now, we still need to work out details. plus if we get a bunch more people we'll need to find a hotel near you if you house fills up

Looks perfect!

I still need to call fontana village. Being that they only have two doghouses and there across the street from each other I'm debating on staying there or not. I'm going to do some research so i'll know before the day is over with.

ok well the only other option would be to stay at the microtel http://www.microtelrobbinsville.com/?FacId=2002 which would save us a 30 bucks a room however it's like 20-30 minutes away from the dragon. The benefit of staying there is we they can accommodate as our meet grows and it woud be alot easier to stay together as a group. Now fontana village puts us really really close to the dragon. They've only got two cabins as of now which = 6 beds. So im throwing this all out there. Also, microtel has rooms that can be ajoining too

Tell me what you guys think..

jaquizzi suite baby! I vote for this place just because of the extra space, a half hour isn't too bad and everyone will have an option for their own bed.
