Test Drove the STi

Yesterday I represented Subaru at a car show in the movie parking lot, with the premier of 2Fast2Furious... which I didn't see yet.. My friends were running the show and the turn-out was huge!

The cars were sick.. but the highlight of my evening was driving the STi back to the dealership... WOW.. http://www.clubhonda.com/images/ubbicons/biggrinlove.gif

The coolest feature I found was a a nifty little dial next to the E-brake that allows manual control of the torque power ratio in the center diff... Imagine that at the track!!

Stock the STi comes with 17" alloys (gold or silver BBS, 6s MT, Brembo brakes/calipers, HIDs, bodykit, a 2.5l flat-4 and I beleive the VF-30 IHI turbo, I'm still unsure what turbo it is, but the power it produces is INSANE. 300hp stock, imagine what a couple stupid mods could pull outta that... WOW..

It is the sweeeeetest thing I've ever driven..

My friend got the new Dodge SVT(?) The turbo neon which I found out comes stock w/ a 16g turbo, like WTF? 500$ in mods and it'll be running lo-13's possibly hi-12s! <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif" alt="Eek" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::eek:-->

sweet, id still rather have an EVO, but the STI is an awsome car....

my friend works at a dealership and told me that you can manualy adjust the shift light on the tac by preassin in the trip button and reving it to your desired point <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::cool:-->

niiiiice, got to ride the STI, that's pretty pimp <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::cool:--> I'd have to seriously look at it if I had the cash.

SRT4, that's cool, dude who camuman knows got a SRT4 and put a manual boost controller and drag radials on it and ran 13.5 @ 105mph. pretty cool and the local dealer here sells them for $17k out the door.

I love the SRT-4's; it's an AWESOME car...

But i'd take the evo over the STi; just preference, i guess...

i too would take the EVO, heres why:

see now that ive read some info/reviews/comparisons on thease two cars i can safetly break out my magizine racer skills

basicaly it boils down to this

STI:

-not as much dealer mark up, easier to get a hold of one if you really want it(or so ive been told)

-overall more powerfull, and the "weak tranny" bull**** isnt vaild because this tranny is totaly diffrent than the one one the 2.5 RS and WRX. suposedly it can hold up to 600hp, more than enough to get the job done, so that shouldnt be an issue.

-neat little features like an adjustable diff and a shift light you can set.

-handeling is good, but its a little more rough around the edges compared to the EVO

EVO:

quicker steering ratio(13:0:1 vs the STI's 15:2:1)
outhandels the STI, more of a drivers car that likes to be pushed to its limits, chances are your average weekend racer will reach his limits before the car will <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)-->

its a precision machine that performs extreamly well when pushed hard.

and (to me) betterlooking, but thats just a matter of opionion really

so if i had to chose id take the EVO, but hey thats me and i only say that because my mags tell me so <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::p-->

well, that and i prefer a precision handeling car over one thats a little more suited for stright line acceleration and is a little more clunky around the twisties, a far depature from my origional muscle car lovin roots <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::cool:-->

I just don't see why they stuck w/ the top-mount ic on the STI! And a guy around here named Ted has the sickest WRX i've ever seen, and lookin under the hood is...different. Everything seems so stuffed under there.
