View Full Version : I love my Scoobie....

About 12:30am I'm cruising my way home on the parkway (where I'm ALWAYS finding trouble w/out having to look) and this kid in a CLK430 flys up along side me and waves thru the window. (OF COURSE he wants to race....)

I start laughing, downshift and take the f*ck off... or so I thought.. I slow down at about 90 he FLYS by and keeps going.. he had to have been going like 110.

Anywho, after a couple times of him waiting up for me b/c I'm being wimpy about hi-speeds (I'm afraid of farm animals.. oink oink) I finally decided to punch it in 4th at like 4500RPMS, and DAYYYYMN the exhaust is loud and it threw me into the back of my seat... oh my, I LOVE that!

So after hitting 100 I had to simmer down and say goodbye, that was my evening... I love driving. I learned not to challenge a 430 at speeds past 90. That damn 6cy... grrrrrr.. (Note to self: NEED MORE BOOOOOOST)

But Sunday was the real adventure. Its been a snowy hell up here in Jersey and the roads have been a mess! What a perfect time to go 'off-roading'.. MUD! MUD! MUD! Puddles are SOOOO much fun!!!

Scoobie and I had a BLAST, thank god I have that STi suspension, otherwise I don't think I would have made it out of there. Spent almost an hour being a complete jerk on roads I know the pigs won't and don't go on. They are that bad!

My man seemed to be a little jealous that I spent the afternoon w/ my car instead of doing 'normal girly things', but what fun is that?! (HE got to spend that afternoon w/ Papdakis.. I'm jealous as HELL!)

uh, is the STi suspension a rally based package? and how would that help? does it lift the car any? you make it seem like you were going muddiving,... so how would anything but a lift kit and offroad tires help you?

1) The entire car is RALLY BASED... so likewise a performance suspension kit with stronger struts and coilovers, front lower control arms, and a rear sway bar will ultimately increase suspension performance and can handle the abuse of a rocky dirt road w/ mud pits better than the stock suspension can.

2) It did lift the car about 1/2"... nothing too serious...

3) A lift and dirt tires aren't necessary for the occasional dirt road spin.. its not like I was in the firetrails.. Come on now.

oh honey, you have no idea....

look at the sig; that name was bestowed upon me, i didn't make it up to fluff my own ego.

you have no idea what "mudding" is really like. i have mud CAKED on my roof any time i go out in the rain. i play dirty. the civic is a great mud car. i know dirt roads. i know mud. what i didn't know was why you thought your precious STi suspension saved your day.....

quote:
thank god I have that STi suspension, otherwise I don't think I would have made it out of there.
out of where? like you were in the jungle. as if your stock suspension would have snapped.

IF
quote:
The entire car is RALLY BASED...
then the stock hardware should be enough for a simple public NJ road. it's not like you were doing the paris - dakkar....

oh, and a little lesson on your car, and on rally in general:
the WRX is based on an ECONOMY CAR! it is not "rally based". in the WRC there is no such thing. the only rally based cars are the one-offs that are built from scratch to only rally race. the impreza is a 4cyl economy car, with AWD. yeay. my dads astro has AWD- not a rally car. what i'm getting at is all WRC cars, in reality (ei. not the land of advertising and marketing) START as economy cars. his is because they are simple, light, and usually overbuilt to start with. add a turbo and AWD, pump the TV's full of "rally inspired" car commerials, and BOOM a nitche performance car. the fact that the WRX is AWD and turbocharged, and the WRC teams use an impreza shell as a base have very little to do with eachother. read a book on this sometime, instead of regurgatating what you see and hear on TV. i've never seen a car that needed more hype, than the WRX, to be taken seriously...

STRAIGHT UP OWNED......

The reason my reply is in this manner was because of your "attempt" to one-up OLD SI and make him look as though he doesnt' know what he is talking about. Again, with your comment at the end, you are being quick to judge an individual based on really no information about them to support your statements. So in affect here is what I have to say on the matter.

Sorry but there is nothing on your WRX that goes into WRC cars. As OLD SI stated, you really should read up/watch some more WRC or SCC Pro Rally. WRC cars are completely re-done for EVERY rally. After every rally, the cars are stripped bare chassis, then rebuilt from from the ground up and to the specifications of each rally event. Even the motors are tuned differently depending on the terrain of the stages (your going to have different gearing and rev. limiters for a snow event like Sweden vs. Germany's short straights and tons of curves tarmac rally). Basically, the car you see from rally to rally is completely different from the one you saw at the previous event. None of which is based around any factory parts, all are custom built for their rally cars.

I agree with OLD SI, the whole "rally inspired" thing is a selling gimmick. Truthfully nothing from your production WRX goes into WRC cars and nothing from WRC cars go into your WRX.

It seems has though us Michigan boys know our rally......Must be because we grow up around the snow and the dirt.

Hey guys, you all may know alot more than me when it comes to cars and what not, thats great and all we all have knowledge somewhere. But truthfully when it comes down to doin what you do. You can either be and ass or a friend. I deal with it all day at work, when someone knows little about High defintion or what thats besides the point, the way i help them though will. I can either be real short with them and say Hey u need a box, its 800 bucks cya later. Or i can take the time to explain. And seeing you guys just reply comin and just adding comments as far as "owned" and writing a whole page on how she is wrong. Thats pretty frustrating if your Chris, even if your her friend. So basically take the time out of your lives and post something thats goin to be helpful and not make someone look like an idiot, we all know each other here, so why can we just be "real" with each other. Would you honestly tell others "ohhhh you got no idea" or "ohh you have been owned" if you were face to face with them?? Come on lets shape up. Like i said most of us in this thread have been here for a long time, we dont want to screw relationships up.

ONLY ON ACCOUNT OF VILLAINY...... OH I'll PLAY YOUR GAME YOU ROGUE.

guess whose back, back again, Rotary is back, tell a friend, guess whose back guess whose back.

what you guys thought I would let this go unattended......of course not.

Bottom line Chris, Wreckless and I are not posers, and its not us with the problem. You ever stop to think we say what we say because of YOU, not us. I could go ahead and tell you exactly what type of person you are but I am not going to because it would be too harsh. Bottom line you aggravate me like their is no tomorrow. Because I absolutely can't stand people who come on, giving this whole built up persona that’s absolutely not them, talking like they know, but they don't, and generally acting like you do on here. All you really do is regurgitate information you here and play it off like its information you know. Frankly its ridiculous, and a few of the other members that eat it up and come to your defense are damn near as sad. Civicbeater, no offense bro but she's playing you ....SERIOUSLY, and you eat it up dude. Your a cool guy and I have nothing against you at all, but I am just saying that’s what’s going on bro. Hit me up on IM and I'll explain if you want. Step off the bandwagon, its been loosing steam and it officially crashed on this thread.

FreakTIMAHHH you da man, I am so glad you can actually use your brain and see what’s going on here. And defend Wreckless and I, I greatly appreciate it.

Chris your the ultimate poser here, if your going to try to insult me please do it with some just information. Chris its not that I don't like you, its just you really aggravate me because in my eyes, your not being real on here, your using some built-up persona. Why I don‘t know, but you are.. If you wanna talk hit me up on IM too, please just be real with me, that counts for a lot in my book.

And for further imput Civic, dude I am completely here to help, hell you read the book I wrote about what Crhis should do to her WRX. But frankly it seemed as though it went in one ear and out the other. Chris for some reason (what she's heard) seems to think an ECU is the next step. AND I AM TELLING YOU ITS NOT, I mean I said that numerous times, suggested what she should do, and what would be the better way to do it. You say you want my advice, so I take the time to write-out a reply covering pretty much everything I could think of, and it basically goes unheard. So yeah that pisses me off, basically I try real hard. And for the vast majority I don't say jack ****, but its just when it gets completely ridiculous I step in and say my mind. Frankly I don't see anything wrong with that.

If i offended anyone sorry but hey everyone is entitled to their own opinions. They could be right or wrong, but this is an open forum and those opinions are going to be expressed. And sorry but I can't look the other way in instances like this.

Chris- I would have to say that nobody is gangin up on you!... "WE" ( wreckless, rotary, turbochargedtsi) don't like it when people make dumbass lame excuses for why there car is faster, handles better, accelerates quicker, and **** like that. Your car is NOTHING like the WRX WRC car! The frame is about the only thing, and that has even been upgraded.
As far as get a life goes.....your the one that is talking about muddin it up on some back raods and ****... your car is made for the paved road... AND THAT'S IT!!... take your WRX off road for a bit, i bet you you will come back with a banged up, twisted half-shafted " rally" car! OWNED!!!!!!!

No body is ganging up on you... just know what the **** you are talking about when you post what.. " you think you know ". I have an AWD tsi!.... and your car isn't any better of a rally car than mine! damn man you really are crazy! as far as ECU being next thing i would say yes. its an upgrade similar to chipping an ECU. its just a plain piggyback computer that bumps boost and fuel pressure. as for the UTEC, it has all the hypes of a stand alone but it is still a piggyback. so please do not say "ECU is not next" because you lack knowledge of WRX tuning period and it goes beyond just knowing basics of tuning any turbocharged car.
