I dont know if you remember me but I kind of set up the race with you and Rich that night at Towers (I rode shotgun). At the time i had the Blue Si (who didnt have one, lol) Well the Si is gone and i have to get another car. I dont want to make payments anymore so I am thinking about a SE-R. It seems like the cheaper alternative right now. I love hondas but i would have to buy the car, swap in the DOHC VTEC then add boost. Too much money for me right now. I figure that the SR20DE is a great motor to add boost and I know you are experienced in this area. That white SE-R was plenty fast. Is there anything that you think i should know as this is a new area for me. Thanks in advance.

Hey man Wassup,Well if you're going to get a new car and want to go Sentra Try to get the SE-R,becuz you have the LSD tranny and the harness which is a big help whn you do the DE-T swap,obviusly.The SR20(N\A version) are a great motor to play with while you save up for the DE-T.The white car went through a ton of different nitrous set-ups and at one point was spraying about a 150 shot on a completely stock motor.(That bitch was rollin too ;))PLus if you blow up the stock motor you can usually find the JDM blue tops for like 300-400 bucks.If you get the older Sentra like my buddy's make sure you check the tranny,they have that notorious 5th gear pop-out shit and it's defect in the tranny.I might be wrong on the years but I think it's the 91-92's that had them,and the trannies on those cars are hard to find and expensive.Ummmm if you wanted to add bosst to the stock motor you're gonna be limited to about 10 pounds.I wouldnt really suggest goin that way though,you can make more power with the spray.If you wanna go turbo def save up and by the DE-T.My buddy payed a lil over 2000 for his,so it is a lil expensive.But look at it like this he's still on a stock motor and when I was just down there he told me he ran an 11.2.You can't beat that.I dunno if I answered your question completely,if you have more questions just ask. ;)

Spooled I agree with you 100%. But i still have a couple questions if you dont mind answering them.
Its funny that you mention NOS because i have a kit sittin in my garage as I type. What do you need other than a clutch to spray a 150 shot??? I would assume that the fuel system would need to be beefed up a bit.

With the DET swap what is involved that could pose a problem and how straightforward is it? I heard that you have to use the USDM tranny and that it fits but it doesnt bolt all the way up? you familiar with that or am I totally wrong?

And finally, I had a friend that had a DE boosting 11psi for about 4-5 years before the engine craped out. He took me for a ride and it was pretty damn fast. If I can remember he was running low 12's high 11's on slicks on the stock motor other than injectors and a fuel pump. I thought that the DE was strong from factory seeing that it has iron sleeves etc.. Once again I could be completely wrong. I hate to ask so many questions but I would like the opinion of someone that has been there before. Thanks again.

Yea Civicbeater, I have always liked the older SE-r's and it seems like the best option for me at this point in time. That is until I can afford the GTR. LOL Yeah right!!!

ok for the Nitrous he had a clutch and a fuel pump and a regulator,then the normal stuff like CAI and headers and exhaust,we never changed the injectors,but it couldn't hurt.So you know when we were spraying 150 it was a 2-stage direct-port set-up,I wouldnt try it with a dry kit or a single fogger wet kit,but that's just my opinion. As far as the tranny thing goes the USDM tranny bolts right up no problem,but you do have to use a USDM tranny becuz most of the Bluebird DET motors are AWD.And lastly the weak poin on the stock motors when you boost them is the rings and the ringlands.They are a strong motor,but I still find it worth it to buy the whole motor,it has better rods, the right compression,the block has more ribs making it more rigid,and some other things.As far as the swap,you just drop it in,I think they're some sensor hranesses you wont use,I'm not exactly sure,it's been a while.Anymore questions,just ask!!!! ;)

Planning on getting a 92 black Se-r, 140k, original owner, no 5th popout. Going to look at it tonite. He is asking 1900, I am going to try and work it down to 1650-1700. Car is clean.

IMO the money is better in my pocket than in his. I am a salesman full time these days, I overcharge the shit out of the occasional person every now and then I must admit. Before i even said anything he said that we was flexible on the pricing so i knew that i would be able to work him down, all i said was that i was looking to spend 1500-1600 bucks and that if we can agree on a price that i would bring him the money tomorrow. He was cool, like i said i dont think he needs the money.

Bone stock, got a trailer hitch though! (1st thing that is coming off) It definetaly pulls harder than the SI did down low. The battery crapped out on me, the guys said that it has been his 3rd car for the last 3 months so he hasnt been driving it that much. Gotta get a new one today!

I think he was pulling a waverunner because the tow hook is rusty along with the bottom of the exhaust. They will both be coming off soon anyway so i could care less. It wasnt the battery it is the external coil that i think needs replacing, it runs though!!!

LOL, Spooled, I have been browsing the nissan boards and all these people are buying JWT ecu modules etc to run NOS. Cant I just bolt up the kit to the car and go? Also can the motor deliver enough fuel for a 50shot dry? Or are there things that i should get 1st?

I never liked using computers to activate the nitrous,when you get so complex,that's more shit to go worng.Yea you can just bolt up the kit and go,if your fuel pump is in good shape,then I think you should be more than fine.You might wanna get an Air\fuel gauge just to be cautiious,or check the plugs regularly,to make sure they're burning good.What kind of kit you gonna be using,a NOS kit,or something like the Zex kit?

Thanks spooled, just wanted to make sure before i started blowing **** up. Going to run a compression test before anything NOS related goes on the car. I am going to be using the standard NOS brand dry kit. Also There is a place in miami that is selling the DET enigine and tranny for 1400 bucks. How hard is it to find a distributor and ECU for those things?

The Red-Top Silvias are usually cheaper than the Bluebird motors.And as you can imagine you can't use the Silvia motor....lol

yea that's a Bluebird.....it's F U C K I N G cheap man!!!!!If you can invest the money I suggest it,You can use the american computer and harness,it ran better actually woth U.S. computer in the white one.You will need a fuel controller,cuz the motor is gonna load up with fuel with that computer,thats the only ****ty part.But that ECU has a higher rev,and like I said it ran better with US computer.

The swap itself is not too bad,we did it start to finish in one full day,we were driving it around the same night...Ummm you would have to buy a fuel pump,the stock one will hold stock boost if it's in good condition,but I would rather play it safe and get a bigger one.I would change the clutch one time since the motor and tranny are out.If you keep the factory intercooler it should fit,I can't remember,but I think it will,we had a hood scoop from a Toyota Levin on it,but I'm pretty sure it will fit without it,but it will hurt your performance some wihtout any kind of cold air gettin to it,it will all be hot air from the motor. You can upgrade to the front mount one time....The stock harness and computer will work,though it will run a bit rich when it senses boost and break up a bit under normal driving,so a fuel computer might be woth it as well,but not a must have,you dont need it to run,just make your life more livable.Ummmmm I think that's about it,if I think of anything I'll let you know.

Well my boy got the stock turbo inlet tube(the one that goes on the front of the turbo)and connected the stock MAF there.it puts it in the stock location...I was told if you run an aftermarket Blow-off that blows to the atmosphere that you can connect it to the I\C pipe that goes to the throttle body and it will cure the stumbling that's associated with it.

Anything else you can think of????I'm sure I overlooked something

It won't hold as nice as an aftermarket clutch but it will hold. If you race a lot in one night or a bunch of times at once then it might slip pretty bad,but if you treat it good,it will hold.You'll still ahve that lil slip that all stock clutches give when you shift hard,but it'll be alright.Hey use it as an excuse to buy a new one.Cutch house down there is the one who supplied the three puck and the plate for the white one.That bitch never slipped till we tried to boost 15 pounds and 100 shot....after that it was garbage..LOL

Yea as long as the pump is not tired,it will....
I would just check the plugs after a couple test runs to make sure they're burning right...remember those motors like to be run richer than normal

Damn, clutch house is cheap as hell. Heavy duty pressure plate with i forgot what type of disc for $225!!!! Sounds good to me :) He said it would be good for 300-350 hp

HEHE...I know,why do ytou think we were using them,and they hold good.We used them on a regular basis,they started re-puckin our clutch for like 20 bucks...LOL More than likely they're givin you a 6-puck disc,so it will be a lil rough on the streets but you'll get used to it.I can get you the ACT if you want let me know how it turns out either way.Oh and before you pull the tranny,a couple things I need to tell you,so holla at me before you do it. :D

It's no biggy,just on those tannies where the axle goes in the tranny there is a seal that keeps all the fluid in the tranny instead of leaking out.Do yourself a favor and go to NIssan and buy a set.They almost always break.For some reason we never had to replace them on the Sentra,either that or they were leaking and we didnt notice,but I had a buddy that had a 200SX with the SR and he ahd some tranny problems and his broke everytime we changed his tranny.So just to be on the safe side.They dont cost much. ;)

LOL, Hey have you heard of the "torque mounts"? If so are they good and how much. I think they are for the frount and rear mounts and they supposedly help with wheel hop.

I'm not sure if they are the same thing I'm thinking of,but what it sounds like is a bar that goes from the motor to the chassis,to help the rigidsity if the motor.If I was you I would make the mounts solid,we noticed a much better launch,and solid feel of the car.Try the inserts first though,that might be all you need for now. ;)

dang not to completly jack this thread, but since my homies are the active ones here, last night pulled up next to this rex, ohh triple guage pod comin down the side, but he had chrome hubbies, ehhh, it was an older guy too, but he "felt" my bass and turned his head, lol, ahh but dang it didnt sound like it had anything done to it, but boy ohh boy, i would of like to show him what a nice rex looks like and runs like. well, right now, Oneslowfourdoor seems to be pretty quick, he lives 30 min from me, but as far as stopping at "meets" i havnt just cause i feel like a geek rollin up in da 200sx. :( But i have seen a few si's hooked up real nice, so yeah i got some competition, but uhh i think Oneslowfourdoor knows where all the meets are, so im going to hook up with him

also across the street there is this tight lookin white civic, and every once in a while i see a black lude set-up real nice with numbers painted on his window, so i know those guys be runnin at the track, so, yeah i'll definately have my hands full..hehe, also there is this "sound and security" place that has a car show (all imports) every month or so, always be some tight cars hangin out around there, ive seen a couple supras, ludes, del sol's so there around, just have to find out where they meet :D
