the only thing i ever beat was a DUB. i beat it like a red headed step child.
i revved up the crv for the hell of it and a 1.8T gti pulled up next to me. he gave me the nod, it was on. the light turned green, off i went. thank god it was too powerful for the clutch drop he gave cuz he just spun tires. we only raced to the next stop light, 100 yards or so. just thought i'd share my triumph.

damn son, thats a lot of smack talk coming from a guy who has a coming soon disclaimer in his sig. honda doesn't own joo brotha. my dub lays down low 14's in its current trim and will lay down high 13's with the dump tube. not to bad for a piece of shit dub that you so very much hate. i have flogged the crap out of mine with no problems to date <knock on wood>. the besct way to approach performance is to be open minded, something of which you are obviously not. you see my username, thats beacuase i own a 91 z28 which has "coming soon" a blown carbed 355 that will lay down 450-500 to the wheels. i am a chevy owner thru and thru and bleed orange. but, do to my open minded approach to performance i like imports too. check out a couple domestic sites and see how hard they rip into people just like you. they wonder why anybody would buy a fwd pos civic and dump money into it too run mid 14's. why do that when you can pick up a brand spankin new Z28 6 speed and run low low 13's or if good enough tickle 12's STOCK. so, you might wonder were i am going with this <drumb roll please> stop rankin on dubs. i got one cuase i like it, its really quick, and inexpensive to mod, not to mention its a really classy car. and i am purdy darned sure my dub would give you a run for your money and my dub weighs quite a few more chocolate bars then your hatch. but if you not satisfied with that, then i have my blown domestic that would be happy to oblige.

I'm not gonna take sides, I love Honda, but the 1.8T jetta is nice, every car manufacturor is gonna have trademark problems. every honda I've had has had cooling and distributor problems, vw's get tranny problems and the windows drop. the guy I work with has a dodge van has a faulty a/c switch that burns out when you put the a/c fan on 3 out of 4, he says they've had the same exact problem for the last 20 years. fords are ugly :p chevy's tend to get tranny problems (can't handle their own torque I guess), etc. etc.

Look to all you people beating on just one single car company is week.I have a 90 si-r b16 and a 90 jetta 2.0,both swaps,and ive had my probs with both.Hondas have dist. probs and dont swap so ez,u gotta buy $500 mounts,but my 2.0 bolted right up in the vw,no mounts ness.Honda's are performance hounds and vw's are over engineered,but both have there up's and down's. :D
