im thinking about geting one for school so i can around the city without having to rely on the buses. i dont want to bring my car down because its too expensive and i wouldnt use it enough to make it worth the money, but a scooter is cheap enough to buy and cheap enough to keep running that its caught my attention. plus aprilla has some nice ones, as does italjet. the hondas are a little plain looking but def a possibily. anyone wanna chip in? id love to hear some opinions on this

I had a honda last year 50cc modded to 70cc and that biatch ran 70 mph and did wheelies easily for a mile if I wanted. If i was you I would look into the Yamaha Aerox. they are pimp!

get a pocket rocket. much more stylish than a scooter. and a lot less ghey. plus you can do some phat tricks on em too.
Whos said you cant make tricks with a scooter? if you got enough power to back it up you can do alot. I used to do wheelies on the back and front tires, and even a moving burnout without putting my feet on the ground. I have seen scooters here at the track outrun a honda in the quarter mile, some scooters even with nos! The pick up quick but once they reach 70, 80 mph the just stay constant!

yeah, but soupin up a scooter is like soupin up a toyota echo. it could be done. but what the hell for. besides a pocket rocket doesnt have to have nos added to it. its already fast. yes, i know that there are fast scooters out of the box out there. but, hey, its still a scooter.

you could say the same about souping up a honda civic vs just buying an already fast car. bottem line is im looking for cheap transportation around the city here and a scooter is a good option.
joad man thanks, i aprciate the info right now im debating between a scooter and a bike, like a 500 ninja. the scooters are nice but a lot of the 50cc ones can;t do above 30mph without some mods, i need somthing that will do 50mph to keep up with some of the traffic around here. plus i could take the bike on the highway....i dunno, i got start saving up money and see what the best option is, thanks though mang

Hey Freak,
I have an Eton Beamer, and that thing is 49cc's. Ive done 55 on it with a girl on my back.
You can even buy a turbo kit for it.
I dont know how it is in NOVA but, over here in MD you dont need plates or insurance on it b.c it is only 49cc.
I see a lot of them around campus. Scooters Rule!!

thanks mang, i actually live in richmond now. but ive decided that its prob not worth in the end to get a scooter. there fun but crime in the city is preaty high, and for the cost of insuring one i might as well get a bike. plus its prob kinda usless in the cold(ie i woudnt wanna be riding it). still though, if my insurance doesnt get anylower and parking is still a bitch next year i might consider it. i know i can pick one up on ebay for like 800 bucks

no, thats the beauty, you dont have to get insurance for it!! Get a big-ass chain, wich youcna store under the seat. And if someone does steal it, it would fall under homeowners/renters insurance. Unless VA does suck as much as everyone sasthat you have to get auto insurance and a plate.
