Here is a photo of my Insight. It is not a fast car (I have got it to 115 mph; 0-60 mph in ~10 s) but it does get great mileage (my last tank I averaged 73 mpg).

I would get one for a runner car...take off the rear tire cover thingy, and put some light wheels on it. Open up the exhaust, change the air filter, and give it a little more power. Maybe a little custom body work for the hell of it. ;)

gas mileage kicks ass! If i had that car...i'd take off that rear tire cover thing...and do like the other said, some custom body work, and having it breathe more. You could almost make it look like a futuristic crx!

As far as removing the rear skirts, the car looks funny without them and it loses about 5 mpg on the freeway. As far as other mods, there is basically nothing available, nor will there probably be anything available. So far I have put a stereo system (speakers, amps, deck, subs, etc.), added HID headlights, and had a set of 16" wheels on it for a while (lost steering response and 15 mpg so I removed them). Currently I am working on an intake and a custom leather interior (recovering the original seats and door panels).
Here is the Insight with 16" wheels (205x40 tires):

By the way, about the stock wheels, they are lightweight. A stock wheel and tire weighs 21 lbs (yeah, the wheels are ~7 lbs).

Just put some 15" Light Ass Volks on it! That might actually improve the gas milage.

Actually, the stock wheels are the lightest wheels that I can get (~7 lbs) so I went back to them for now.
