View Full Version : NORTHEAST CLUBHONDA MEET
CSmooth999

All these FL meets, why not NORTH EAST?!! Some members had mentioned the idea... so let's get a move on it!
First off, which track? I was thinking E-town, Atco, or Maple Grove
Any other suggestions?
I've been to all of them, E-town (central NJ) is the nicer of the three in my opinion, the best track up this direction. BUT Atco (south NJ) has a bar (if you're not 21 this won't matter but to those who are...) ... it's a toss up... Maple Grove (PA) is out in west-bumble.. and is okay...
We'll decide on a date once we figure out where to go... so please state your opinion!!
E-town doesn't open until the end of Feb.(I think) but Atco for sure opens at the end of this month.
*For those of you who are unfamiliar with the closing of tracks for certain seasons... it SNOWS up here.. and it's damn cold out!
Please respond if you're interested so we can organize this!!

Yeah, I second that. FL is too damn far..
But i think we should do one either next weekend or in aug in the D . That way we could go to the Detroit Auto show (starts tomarrow) or the woodward Dream Cruis (Late Summer)
And you aint gotta worry about the cold, its the best time to race, Natural cold air intake/intercooler

I would go to a meet but Jersey is kind of a hike from MD. Civicbeater where in maryland is this car you speak of? A bar at a race track that is awesome. We just have a track that you can bring your own liquor/beer. No bottles though.

Well, Chris knows why i'm not keen on going to e-town. I would rather goto either one of those tracks instead.
I was also thinking about maybe MIR. I was thinking that the turn-out maybe a little bigger since it's a bit further south and some more people from the south might come up, what do you think? The only thing that would be a problem is when we were talking lastnight Rotary was talking about coming down and that might be too much of a hike for him coming from Michigan.

hmmm cant get drunk off strippers, hmmm i could still drive the next day....this is sounding ok, im sure someone will keep me in line...well the dates i will be in e town are may 3-4 and florida april 5-6 racing, but the florida deal i will be there before hand in jupiter, i got a boat in a marina there now, so i will be testing, in jersey i will be flying in just for the race, and if this orgy of booze and strippers collaborates, i will be there for that.

I think this is a better idea, more of a central location for everyone. Plus Penn. has some of the best roads for shall I say "spirited driving". We need to have a meet somewhere in the mountains with phatty roads not the drag strip, it'll be a lot more fun this way. What you guys and Chris think?

well I am not driving 12 hours for something I can drive 40 minutes to do.
drag is cool but its really not that fun to me. I'd rather hit the twisties. This sounds like its gonna be a drag meet so in this case count myself out. I think I can also speak for wreckless because I don't think he wants to drive 12 hours to a strip either. If its gonna be drag, pick something in central PA cuz I'll make the drive for that. Plus I'll get to hit the twisties as well with those who also want to do that.

I have to agree with doing "spirited driving" through the mountains. It can be fun but it could also lead to alot of trouble that no one really needs, wether it be an accident or being harrassed by the police.
The track, though not 100% safe it is still alot safer than running through the twisties in a mountain and basically if you do crash it will most likely involve you alone and not some guy and his family taking a trip up into the mountains.

hey heres an idea, why dont we see about renting out a race track for a day or somthing? at least that way its "safe"(you guys are all pussys btw ) and we can do somthing a little more challengeing then stomp on the gas and watch the 16 sec time slips roll in(or 9 sec for some of us ) i mean if i had a faster car id def be up for drag raceing, but frankly i dont see the point of drag racing most of the cars on this board. and its really a waste for wreakless and Rotary, those guys not only have really nice handeling cars but they have the skills to back it up, id love to see them in action. i dunnno just a thought

okay. 1.) i'm down with the track thing. i'd love to show you all how a FWD drift goes. (BTW: i've talked to wreckless and it sounds like he's got the skills to whomp me, but i'd like to make sure)
2.) the twisties are fun at the speed limit (+10mph in any state)
3.) PA does not have a recipratory agreement with any other state in the union for traffic violations. (ask me not how i know this)
4.) Watkins Glen. Joe, you should know this track. look into it for us.
5.) rotory has a RWD!! that is his strength. (i talked to him too)
6.) Woodward is OFF THE HOOK!! especialy for a meet. and after we can go crusing; up north, away from the cops. and i could show you guys "the real 8 mile Rd"
think about it.

my old stompin grounds were 8 and gratiot at the white castle, street racing my 68 GTO or my 77 trans am on french road or off of 11 mile and gratiot,(yes i had a gold chain--it was the late eighties) when i recently went back for the woodward deal, i started hangin out in royal oak, not bad, but i know the real 8 mile.....yikes!

autocross? you're new to this aren't you? okay, autocross is usualy held in a PAKING LOT. it is a course made up of VERY tight turns and short straights, made up with orange cones. it is regarded as one of the most technical forms of motorsports; one squeal from the tire and you just gave up 1st place. a ROAD COURSE, is a circut or track that is made up of varying straights and curves, no cones, and much higher top speeds. The Old Glen is a road course. and what would be wrong with that? your car would own there. i can teach you how to shoot the apexes if that is your concern.... your WRX is made to get to a cornner fast, power through the conner, and then get to the next corner before anyone else.

ok i am too lazyto read all this , i just saw ne meet and catched myu eye.
if you guys wanna drag in Pa , deff gotta be Maple grove. great track and its right in my area.
Other that that Jersey is the next best bet with Etown or Atco . etown is bigger, but would get more runs at atco . and atco is smaller track.
I will see if can post up the IDRC schedule for 2003 and maybe we can go from there

LoL....This thing is getting all bent outta shape, who wants to drag, who wants to roadrace, who wants to drive through a mountain...LoL
I don't have a problem with any of it, well except maybe the mountain thing as I said earlier, but either one is fine for me otherwise. The roadcourse would be real cool, the only thing that might be the problem with that is, it costs a bit more than going to a dragstrip.
I really don't care about wether it's drag or the road course, I'm just concerned about a nice turn out.

That's what I'm saying, I mean I really don't care about the money as long as we have a goodtime, but it may not be economical for some.
I'm going to try and get the low-down and see how much it would cost to get into a roadcourse, i'll let you guys know what I come up with.

why don't we do both at the same time. We can meet up go hang out for a bit, and then those who want can go to the track and those who want can go to the twisties. Or we can have both at separate times during a specific day(s). All I know is I've already seen pretty much everything that will be there on the track and I am not really compelled to go drive straight for a 1/4. Sorry but thats fun but not fun enough to warrant a 6+ hour drive.
You guys fail to realize that just a nice scenic drive through the mountains will be more fun than the strip too (well IMO). You don't have to push your cars if you don't want to or if your apprenhensive or are affraid of getting a ticket.
like Chris says, we'll figure it out. But your being very unfair to those who have to drive far to get there. Something with a nice central location in PA will make the driving distances for everyone about equal.
