Wow , pretty impressive for a domestic. Probelly over 100k under the hood of that thing. How ever, after seeing a 9 sec street legal crx, I certainly think nothing a skyline or nicely built supra cant handle. That camaro will give not only imports but domestics a good run for their money thow. Wow, best camaro ive seen... Anyone know who built it??

dude there are SO many faster street legal domestics out there than imports.
highly doubt there is anywhere around 100K all together in that car let alone under the hood. **** you guys need to pick up a Mustang mag. Basically every car in there runs 10s, 9s, or 8s. Its like no big deal for them. There are a bunch of 9 sec. street legal mustangs rolling around. And some I am sure are dipping 8s too. YOu realize they are doing that too on like a 20K buget as well. 5k for an 5.0, and then around 15K worth of engine will get you there. Last time I was at Southern Motors they had a 9 sec 5.0 selling for 9 grand. here are some nice Mustang links you guys should take a look at. Also, thats gonna have to be a really built Supra or Skyline to nail over 150 in the 1/4. We are looking at a Supra around 850-900RWHP probably to see MPHs like that. and a Skyline I am not sure but its going to need the same magnitude of work done if not more.

scroll down and look at the HP figures for those kits and how little they cost in relation to power output.

I agree with Rotary it doesnt take 100k to get domestics to run 9 or 8. And with a 15k budget you can get a domestics to run 9's. On the other side you give me with my import 15k to build a motor and my car will run 10's maybe even 9's!!! I wasnt trying to start any stuff between domestics and imports but regardless of import or domestic that time is very impressive.

Thats what im saying, pretty impressive for a domestic.
well oviosly theres more american cars doing doing 8's in this country then imports becouse we live in AMERICA. That definatly dosent mean import auto makers dont make a good of car as a american car. I hate to break it to you but, american cars are not the best automobiles on the planet. You dont hear too meny people doing 6's 7's or 8's in a skyline or supra becouse, not to meny people drive them in the US. For every supra theres probely about 10,000 mustangs in the US. And the for every skyline, theres probely 100,000 more stangs.
And as for spending 15k and getting 8's, thats great but you can still spend 17k on a supra and get a tri turbo set up and will more than likely match, if not out preform 15k in a stang. I said probelly 100k in it becouse the last auto show i went to, the fastest all street camaro i saw was hitting 9's and was selling 65k for it. Also one of the Lingenfilter vettes i know still hits 9's and is worth 165k. 0-60 in 1.8 sec, totally street legal. Along with the twin turbo Stryker Viper, which i have no idea what its worth, but definitely over 100k.
Also i'd like to add, 25k in a skylike will most definetly get you WAY over the 900 whp your looking for. For 25k, You can get a quad Turbo setup which would completely destroy the 1/4 scene street or track.(And thats only with the setup, no other mods)

I got a 00 si with a h22a motor that I havent swaped in yet, all completly stock. If i had an extra 15k to drop into my engine an turbo, I can tell you right now, it would without a doubt it would be hitting 9's.
I mean whats more impressive to you?? a 9 sec Big V8 stang or a 9 sec 4 banger CRX. It dosent matter if you spend 15k or 150k, as long as you do it right it what matters.

acually the tri-turbo custom set-up is complete crap. It doesn't spool for **** an doesn't make that much HP either. for drag racing you are best choicing a large singe, for a top end beast HKS twins. But with a 5.0 you can have a 10/9 second car for around 20K all together. For a Supra, its 22-25K just for a 6 speed. Around 5K for a turbo kit, and couple other thounds in all of the extras needed when going single.

you guys keep forgeting that supras and skylines really arent made for dragracing. there sports cars, there made to do everything well, i have a lot of respect for those cars, but there not drag cars. i dont really think there worth spending the money on if you just wanted a drag car. plus most of the ones ive seen are preaty low, low suspentions suck for drag racing. american cars invented dragracing back in the 50's, theyve been doing it longer than everyone else and tend to build the quicker cars, imports havent been doing it as long so i dont really expect the same out of them, but im still impressed with what some of em can acomplish. its always nice to be pleasently suprized from time to to time. :p

I hate all american cars..... i dont think there is any exception's to this. This is just my personal preference. As far as racing, i love it. I love seeing big v8's lose to lil 4's.
You know what i think is funny about import tunning. If you go and get beat by a big v8 stang in your little honda..... so what!!!! its a big v8 it kind of has an advantage on you. But to see a honda beat a big bad stang, o yea!!! do i really have to say anything more.
"stang driver needs to drop his head and move that p.o.s"
I like imports for there style. The scene is cool, people are real, and the cars when they go fast have it all.
not to mention asian girls are fu(king hot...
and everyone has to admit a girl driving a type r is a hell of alot hotter then a girl in a stang!!!! without a dought!!!!! It just has that wow effect to it.....

I disagree with that but I am not going to flame because that is your opinion, and eveyone is entitled to theirs. However, I love all cars import/domestics alike despite driving a 7. I wouldn't consider myself a true motorsports enthusiast if I didn't.
Off the record, the majority of the domestic owners I know and cruise with are cooler and more knowledgeable than the majority of import guys I've seen around aside from those I cruise with.

But IMO, i dont agree with is hateing all domestic's. I just cant stand when people say all imports or all domestics are pieces of sh!t becouse you exclude all cars. Unless you know everything about evey car there is on earth, I think no one deserves to say all imports/domestics are sh!t.

what about the finest Europe has to offer. For the price/performance TVR pretty much blows everything out of the water. The new SL55 basically kicks everything on the roads ass as of now. I still say the twin turbo V8 F40 is one of Ferrari's best cars and the F50 is a track monster. Instead of buying the newest Car and Driver/Motortrend/Turbo/SCC buy CAR. I think you will be impressed. Europe still has the finest in automobiles available in all aspects of the market. The 996TT isn't as raw of a sports car as the 993TT but runs LOW 12s and should hit 11s with a hard launch. The 993 turbo S outpreforms pretty much everything. And the new lightened version of the E46 recorded an amazing lap time at the Nuremburg Ring (if you guys don't know that track, your not a motorsports fan). And BTW, Porsche holds the record laps in each of the 3 categories.
Also, if you guys don't know of Tiff Needle or Top Gear watch some of their tests they do with cars, they will nail times for them that no American mag. could even come close to. ****, the knocked off over a second for the F50s 1/4 time. Oh and that brings me to Koenigs twin turbo F50 that basically runs mid to low 9s on street tires.
I dunno just a thought, can't wait till TVR comes to America though. Much rather drive a TVR than a Viper for the money.

TIMAHHHH......well TVR has been talking about coming to the United States in the next few years because they feel they could benefit from the market, naturally otherwise they wouldn't make the jump. The TVR in Swordfish is a Tuscan, however isn't TVRs best performance model. Thats the Cerbera and the Griffith (sp?). However, unoffically, my friends said that either CAR or the pimp daddy himself Tiff tested the TVR Tuscan R to a 10 something in the 1/4 STOCK. However, I haven't confirmed this yet. I am not sure about what models will be brought over to the US but I believe the Tuscan is going to be one of them and will cost around the same as a new Viper.
well I am off to take 2 exams now, one is all essay and the other one I haven't even studied for. Basically I am ****ed, wish me luck guys, today is gonna be hell on Earth for me. Oh did I mention I didn't really sleep last night either. :( :( :( :( :( :(

9's is nothin for a v8. Go to a NHRA race. pro stock is running 7's. Top fuel funs 4.6's at 320mph. yea the blower is the size of an H22 head. And they run nitro, but still. thats not even funny. 6 g's on accel and 6.5 on decel. V8's are sick. Id take one over a 4 cyl any day. 4cyl require too much money and crap to go fast. then again i have neither soo i f'd.

umm yeah that could def hang with a skyline. skylines are not the be all and end all of motorsports that people make them out to be. like ryan has said on numerous occasions, you can build a fox body mustang up to run 9's on a budget.

Yea but it still comes down to price= amount of hp. You can build a v8 for way cheaper than a honda/ acura, nissan, etc. Yea the gas mileage is going to be soo much better but when you start getting in the high hp range, the gas milage in a 4 cyl even gets bad.
