Well my brother was thinking about an h22, its really not worth it, you got to get new axles, mount kits, breaks, no a/c , no power steering , your car will sit 3 inches lower , and a bunch of other stuff i forget. If i where you id get a b18c5 (200hp). I use to like the h22 but the b18c5 is smaller,Basically Bolts right in, high horse power, and a much much much higher redline than the h22. Then again you could always get a JDM b16a sir2(170hp) about 5 times cheaper if your low on cash.

I still like the b18c5 Thow.

screw the B18C5 because its high compression, and id be too scared to boost it! hhehe
well what kind of custom work will i have to do??anyone???

to put the swap in you would need a motor mount kit and convert the wiring. As for problems everyone complain about breaking axles. As for retaining A/C there is a company that makes mounts so you can retain A/C. I would do it, so what it weighs a bit more than a b18c but..
1: its uncommon to see ;)
2: put boost and that thing will fly.

now that it's not a new swap, there's not really a lot of problems with the swap. the only thing I here about now is axles breaking. but that's only with guys who want to slam their cars low, keep the ride height up a little so the axles are straighter and you'll be fine.
I'd say get the H22A, it's cheaper than the B16A swap from www.hondamotorsonline.com (http://www.hondamotorsonline.com) but you gotta get the mounts and different axles.

all kits BUT place racing use 90-93 accord 1/2 shaft and 90-93 integra axles. SO, i don't know why everyone is making a big deal over the axles. you have to replace the axles in a Bseries swap also. does that mean he should stick with the Dseries so he doesn't have to go through the MAJOR WORK involved with replacing axles.
i ran on stock strength axles for 2 years without breaking them. racing weekly and putting down 300+HP for the second year.
you also have the option of buying driveshaftshop axles.
the big thing is making sure they are parallel with the ground.
you can retain both A/C and P/S with ANY of the kits. the p/s is straight foward. use 97+H22 pump and high pressure line.
the a/c requires modifying the condenser lines. use the H22 compressor and the rest civic.
the easiest way to wire is to use the civic harness, get a obd2 to obd1 jumper harness and modify the eng portion of the harness to fit the H22.
and don't listen to people like checkmate. because they don't have a clue about H22 swaps. just trash talkers who have probably never even seen one.
", you got to get new axles, mount kits, breaks, no a/c , no power steering , your car will sit 3 inches lower , and a bunch of other stuff"!!! that stuff makes me laugh. HAAAAHAAAAA!!!
at least he was correct about a mount kit!!!!

just buy a set of high performance/stronger axles. do a search on google for some places that make them. h22a will produce more understeer then your current motor. but drop when you drop your car center of gravity is lower so it really shouldnt be a major problem with some practice.

i got a question about the h22. Some people tell me its 190 some tell me 195hp and other say 200hp, which one is it?
trickeng
01-07-2003, 09:28 AM
all of the above, depending on year and model.
you can also add 205HP and 220HP to that list for certain JDM H22's
other than the type-s. they all put down around the same HP. the jdm will put down a couple more hp due to 10.6:1 cr vs the usdm 10.0:1.

yeah, people always quote the JDM ones higher, I think mostly it's people just trying to sell them. the compression varies a little, but the type s has different cams, maybe some different ecu tuning, and I think closer to 11:1 compression ratio. other than that motor, they're all really around 195-200 hp.

USDM H22's have 10.0:1 CR
JDM H22's have 10.6:1 CR
JDM Type-S H22's have 11.0:1 CR
so it is a fact that the JDM motors have more power.

Well, i have a h22a in a EG, and not only do i smoke EGs with b18 swaps, but there arent many problems. Mount kit, Injector resistor, new radiator and fan, Axles (the better you get the longer they last. You need to get a wiring harness cut, and spliced to your stock one, so you have dash lights and stuff. About hte USDM and the JDM motors...the JDM is better. The cr is .6 higher and that makes it 5-10 hp more then a usdm motor...
Thats funny that everyone says its a bad swap, when i have a stock motor, and i can bat all t he other swaps, no only in a straight line, but if you know how to drive, and you have suspension work done, the understeer problem is non exsistant. Well, i hope i cleared up some stuff for you..
