I'm a new member to ClubHonda and only recently have gotten into the import scene(2 months ago), and already I've had my car impounded and a speeding ticket, whihc both together cost me around 2 grand. Anyway though, I have a 99 LS Integra. I want to upgrade the shit out of it, but a lot of the part I want are only for GSR's...What, exactly, is the difference between the GSR and the LS besides VTEC?

obviously the VTEC head on the GS-R would be the biggest difference. the gs-r has 170hp compared to the ls's 140hp stock. the LS has slightly more displacement, and taller gearing on the tranny than the gs-r does. but besides that, and maybe something I missed, they're pretty much the same.

besides the VTEC head, the tranny with the close gear ratios would be the only other advantage of the gs-r.

You are headed in the right direction with the car you have. Just get the VTEC head off of a GSR, and put it on your LS. That was some parts from the GSR will actually work for you. Yuo will end up with more torque than a GS-R, and still have the VTEC engagement. THEN you can throw Nitrous, or a Turbo on it, and be Blazing the streets!!! Good Luck!

Yea you can go with the LS\Vtec,but I would use a B16 head, they flow better and are easier to find than the GSR's and usually cheaper too.Tim(VisionImports) knows that,he prob just wasnt thinkin. But don't be discouraged, straight LS motors are awesome. You can build great power out of them and they are a lot cheaper for stock parts and parts are abundant.Put a nice turbo kit on there and some cams, you'll make some decent power. ;)

The Ls/Vtec is very reliable. All you are doing a taking OEM B series parts and making a frankenstien. I think you will have more worries when you are doing forced induction. However anytime you are doing all motor, you are looking at a very reliable means.

I'd have to disagree with you there Vision, only becuz if you are building a serious all motor car you have just as much risk detonating and shit becasue of the compression and the revs. Now if you are doing just bolt-ons and comparing it to slapping a Greddy kit or something on a stock motor, then yea I agree with you All-Motor is def more reliable. The facts are all the same though, anything you race and really make good power out of is eventually gonna break.ESPECIALLY with Hondas.Just the nature of the beast. You know what I mean. You can build an LS\VTEC turbo and make a gang load of power, but dont expect it to run a 100k miles. If I was you man, stick with the plan you got with the staright LS motor.I think you will be pleased once you get it tuned right.Good Luck dude!!! ;)

It all boils down to the ultimate questions...how fast do you want to go, and what is your budget. I agree if you are looking to stay OEM reliable and have decent gains, keep the LS. If yu want the VTEC, and are looking to spice it up a bit more, then go LS/VTEC, if you are looking to make BIG gains, and be one of the fastest in your town, no matter what route you go Turbo or N/A you are looking at $$$, as well as the fact the car will be MUCH less reliable. Good luck either way!
