problems with vtec?

every time i engage in vtec and hit about 5000 rpm, my car makes a cligging/squeaky noise that sounds like metal rubbing on metal, does anyone know what this is and is it serious?

When was the last time you performed a vavle lash adjustment? It could be the culprit.
