I know one reason, about $1,000 less money for the 1st gen compared to the second gen (at least from hondamotorsonline's pricing).
if it's not too big a deal with the wiring, and if you can keep a/c, then save the grand. or upgrade to a LSD tranny, I just got my 1st gen B16A LSD swap shipped to florida from cali for a total of $1,850.

Bro, a First gen b16a and a second gen civic don't mix like to dicks with no chicks. You have to buy a new distributer, wire harness, water pump, and some other shit. Trust me cuz my boy and i just tried to make it work and it was hell and it costed me my left arm and right nut.Just spend the money and buy the right shit or you'll be really sorry later.

i have the hydro to cable conversion in my 94 hb its easy to do it took about 30 mins to put on the tranny its real easy if u get it and need more help let me knwo
Yeah, the Hasport tranny conversion is easy, but what about all of the other crap that goes into the B16a1, 5million series? It's pretty hard to change over a non-obd setup to an obd-1 setup with out a very expensive wiring kit and lots of patience. Plus, you're docked 10hp because it's a1 and not a2. The more aggressive cams and slightly higher compression do make a big difference. I do, however, agree with you on the cable tranny chouice; cable is more efficiet. ;)

So here what you can do reserch the net alot for a good and cheap 2gen b-16 long block i think you can find them at hmotorsonline.com for $900 also what are you planing to do with it if your doing for show go with and ls trans there cheap mabe $500 at the most and axle $200 at the most too. as far as the ecu gos i think honda data can upgrade your stock ecu even if its not v-tec. This way it is cheaper then buying the whole swap I got a b16 in my cx did the whole job my self it is not hard if you have any questions let me know.
Im takeing out the b16 and going with and ls/vtec turbo hope to push a lot of boost and hope for 500hp.
