I think a gsr head is a very good flowing head stock i think the only reason people mat the b-16a head on is for compression i believe it raises it if im not correct??? But to make the b-16 head good just have it flowed on a "flow meter" by someone like Port flow they are really good....But try it and see what happens especially if you can get a gsr block for cheap...

THe reason for it like he said was for better compression. The best head to use is the GSR head the combustion chamber is like a square so all the air goes to the middle and ignites better. The b16/type r are almost the same, better internals, and p&P and the combustion chambered is circled instead.

I've always heard that the B16A1 and B16A2 heads flow about 3% higher than the gs-r heads.

Heres the deal you are actually wrong the B16 or type R head will actually lower your compression by .2 pts. but they do flow better. You will not notice a differnce between the 2 unless you put pistons in it. Also the type R head in my eyes is a waste of money. A B16 head is the same aven the same casting number and Honda just ports the R head which can be done better at a shop with a flow bench for about $600 Just my 2 cents

I agree, all the money for the ITR swap and you could get a B16A, with a CRV bottom end, and a aftermarket LSD diff and be better off. or like you said, just port and polish the B16A head and you'll have more power too.

From my research the B16A head is a better flowing head,in fact the Type R head is really a
ported B16A head with bigger valves, higher cam profile and modified Valve springs. Also the higher flowing ITR Intake will not bolt onto the B18c head.Tests have shown that the B16 intake out performs the typr R all the way up 7000rpm where the R begins to kick butt.I have tossed my B18c head in favour of the B16a from carefull research.I sand to be corrected.
Question! What is the difference between a b16a and a b16a1 or b16a2? I just need to get that right!

b16a1 is the first gen b16's found in the vtec del sol, the b16a2 is the newer SI models like shanes.
Ok, I see. What about the the 88-91 CRX? Are they just b16a? I was just asking cause mine reads b16a1. Maybe the european spec might have a different engine that the ones in the us! Besides, mine redlines at 8000 and I think the crx in the us has a lower redline. I wanna go turbo so I am finding out if a bold on for a US crx would go right on the euro spec!

yeah, the US src has a pos 90hp motor, so a turbo kit made for that wouldn't work on your crx. you need a turbo kit for the B16A in a crx.

Thanks man. I just want to say that people are sooo behind in tuning cars and make them look wicked. There are only a few nice looking hondas around. The rest are shitty. I need to make my crx a head turner soon. Simple clean looks with power to blow off a porsche or M3 or something.
Try www.crxclubholland.nl (http://www.crxclubholland.nl) so you see what I mean. Some cars are nice, but all looks, no power to match. All other looks like candymans crx!!! I did not mention the engine, just the looks :D

When you go to the website you should click on the red button that says Nederlands. Then on the left side click on meeting foto's, and then click on any of the lists. Some cars are nicely done, but just a few. Most of them dont match nice rims. here they like the 15' and 16' but they go more on the show than go. My car is still stock. I just got it 2 weeks ago, but as soon as the $$$ flows back, I will go for the clean show and go!

gsr stock flows 151 cfm....
b16a flows 149 cfm..
stock,
when they are ported, the b16a head outflows the gsr 163cfm to the gsr's 161cfm, give or take .
later.
