hey guys, got some shit to update on. first, i am sure that some of you remember that i ran a white wolsburg 1.8t and pulled on him thru each gear. well, i bumped into him tonight and there was a drastic difference. he sees me and remembers me and floors it in second. i oblige and do the same figuring i'll begin to pull. NOPE. he actually pulled to my front bumper at his rear bumper thru second and i hit third and slowly started to make up ground. but, not to much. maybe we would be even by the end of third.
i ask him to pull over to find out what he did to make it that much faster. turns out he added only one thing. you see what i have in the sig. he has up chip, 3" dp, stock exhuast and forge. the one thing he added is a turbo XS boost controller. he set it to 18 psi and was pretty much a step quicker than me. thats saying alot too since my jetta aint no slouch.

now, its got me wondering, is it SAFE? i saw how it was hooked up and you unhook the n75 valve and put a manual boost controller in its place. SO YOU BYPASS THE N75 COMPLETELY. is this safe? does allowing the car to boost even higher mean turbo will die sooner? probably. and, will the chip compensate and add in more fuel up top?

i dont know but i might try this product out. the thing that scares me is it is one less thing being controller by the computer. so, does the chip no whats going on or am i just fooling the hell out of ECU?

shit, i prolly will wait and see the long term effects on his car but the short term seems very promising.

first race( a few weeks ago) (http://www.clubhonda.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=316602881&f=175606891&m=829603479)

the guy almost won! but, my top end pull eventually would have did him in, he even admitted that.

Here the turbo freaks usually run with those kind of "manual" boost control. They only put on a safety valve on top plus they add the pop-off valve to keep the turbo spooled up while shifting. some cossies from the olympic city of Lillehammer near me uses that type. they run 20psi (some more) but they use turbo pressure too get more fuel in, and when they shift, there is a big chance (if you can keep up their tailgate) they'll grill your bonnet when they are shiftin. Not unusual with an 3-6 meter long torch out the exhaust of those ones.
looks awsome in the dark!!!

the chip should see the extra boost and compensate. I say you get it ;)
the sooner you kill that turbo, the sooner a bigger one gets in there and you get full boost all the way to redline :D

upsolute and manual boost controller owned me. but how long will it last? sounds like a quick fix for fun, but a long term turbo rebuild.

Camuman, you said over at 20V that you don't think his car with show gains with a 3" like your car did. Why do you say that???? I'm curious.

I don't know about the BC bypassing the n75...but as for turbo damage in the long run, any of us including you are going to have that eventually...being chipped/etc. Since we have upped the boost from 11.5 to 20psi in some cases, the ko3 won't last very long. I have 31K on my car already....about 12K chipped....and no signs of ko3 failure just yet...but who knows when I hit the 70K range.

DSM's live and die by BC's, and I have a friend with over 100K on the stock 14b turbo running 12's and in some cases hitting 2.2bar!!! His wastegate actuator broke the other day, and he spiked at 32 psi! That's insane. But the turbo is still okay for now, so I don't think that guy running chip/bc has anything to worry about for now with that setup. FWIW. :)
