CRX, RX-7, and Mustang Cobra line up at the light...

he he, I pull up at the light on the way to work, and I end up next to a hooked up 3rd gen RX-7, and a newer body style cobra with the cobra "R" body kit (looked tight, not the new supercharged cobra though).

so the light goes green and they take off! (I would have too, but I'm not gonna risk it on my licence :( ) anyway, the 3rd gen RX-7 handed the mustang his a$$ :D the RX-7 ruined the launch, but sucked him up pretty good after that.

the part I thought that was funny was that the three of us must have looked like a scene from TFATF, three hooked up cars all waiting for the light to go green :cool: oh well, soon my licence will be fixed and I can play again too :)

damn those rotery rockets! :mad: hehe...oh well, the mustangs a cool car but i must admit if i had my choice between the too id take the mazda...nice cars, 300hp from an 80ci twin turbocharged engine, nice..very nice indeed :) of course my problem with owning one of those things is if it breaks it'll cost you an arm and leg to get work done on it(or so ive been told anyhow) but then again mustangs spend half their life in the shop as well so im guessing the maintance costs would be about the same....hmmmm...oh yeah and candyman, dude theres a permanite fix to your license problem..STOP street racing!! geez, i mean i know you all think its cool an stuff but seriously cant you just take it to the track on weekends or somthing? i dunno man, youve gotten kinda lucky so far, but if i were you(witch im not) i woulnt push it...../end negtive nancy rant ;) :p

Its not that easy just to go to a track around here. You have to make that an all day event not to mention the 1.5 hr drive to get there. I mean i see where your coming from about going to the track but if there was one close by i would go there all the time. Plus there nothing like putting a whooping on a lil kid that thinks his car is the shit and showing him up!! ;)

yeah i hear you, theres not really a track near me either :( i just dont street race cuz im paranoyd, i always think theres cops like everywhere, hiding behing every bush, tree, stop sighn ect....all im saying is candyman shouldnt push his luck, especialy with all the media exposure and crackdowns on street racing lately, id hate to see some dickhol juge make an example out of him...thats all :p

Uh, just for the record, mustangs suck. Even the new cobras with the supercharger sucks. Compared to the camaro, a mustang doesn't have a chance. Hell, I was with my friend in his 6-cyl Altima (Something like that, I can't remember, too long ago) and we were dead even with a Mustang GT. We were in an automatic too. Honestly, the Mustang is a pathetic car built by a pathetic company. The fact they have to add a supercharger to provide a competition for the LS1 is proof of how crappy it is.

he he, I aggree I'd rather have a WS-6 over a new cobra, but I know a guy with a bone stock '03 cobra who ran 12.5 @ 113mph, that's faster than a stock WS-6. and there's allready a company making bolt ons that get the cobra just under 500hp at the wheels for less than $1500, which is pretty sweet.

errr..actually your wrong, the stang no longer has domestic competition, it far outsold the camaro(mostly due to V6 autos) and the camaro and firebird have been officaly killed off..the ls1 is a nice engine but now the vette is the only one that really uses it. and frankly the vette is out of most peoples price range:( the fact of the matter is that the 03 cobra is an imressive car for a reasonable price. and candyman was right, with some mods you can get it into the 500hp range, MM&FF even got it to run an 11 sec quarter mile! Ford is making some preaty nice performance cars right now, there also the only domestic company thats giving you a blower from the factory, cheavy cant say that can they? theres a reason mustangs are still around and camaros have been killed off. look untill GM starts producing the soliste or release the 05 camaro(05 is gonna be a big year for everyone i think) they really arent competing with ford...the fact that they made a 4.6liter DOHC supercharged V8 that produces almost 400hp stock is quite impressive! the camaro SS was a joke this year and didnt manage to hold its own against the mustang, hell the cobra even dares to challenge the corvette! between the mararder, cobra, lighting, and even the little SVT focus ford has quite a powerfull line up of fun/performance cars that sell remarkably well....bottem line: dont flame the 03' cobra because it will smoke anything in its price range, and probetly a few cars out of it.....

also keep in mind that the GT's are only SOHC, ford reserves the 4v for the cobra:( and ill admit it, the GT stangs are a tad weak, but there still fun cars.....

Yes, the 03 Cobra is fairly impressive with it's stock specs. But look at the potential power the SS Camaro has Vs. the 03 Cobra. It has only 80 less HP and it lacks forced induction. Id have to say (much to my dismay) that the 03 Cobra is actually a decent car considering how sucky previous mustangs have been. Yet the value of a car should be placed on what you can get it to do, not what it can do when you buy it. True, the cobra can get up to 500hp but I know that I could get a Camaro well above that.

btw the fact that the mustang outsells the camaros has little to do with whos buying them and more to do with looks, ford keeps re-inventing the mustang every few years why GM tends to keep things the same for about a decade or so before sales get so low people stop buying them, seriously the guys runing GM have there heads up there assses! have you SEEN the new 05' Vette? :eek: god i really hope they dont make it like that...its horrid :(

yeah, GM is retarded, every year they complained about the low sales of the camaros and firebirds, but they also raised the price every year. plus, like you said, the camaro changed very little in almost 10 years, firebird changed more, but nothing major.

I think Ford just did better marketing with the mustang, until the '03 cobra they're much slower than the f-bodys, but they priced themselves in a place that most people could afford, and people who own stangs love them.

Fully agreed, I remember when the current gen mustang came out I was like, damn, that's a sweet looking car. Then I realized I just admitted that a mustang was cool. That was a bit frightening. Oh well, yeah, GM has killed off all their fun cars. Ford on the other hand has constantly been the innovator. Its like that have a bit of import blood in thier veins. Marketing does have a lot to do with it.
Chevy better resurect the camaro and pontiac the firebird. A world without F-bodies is just a sad sad existence.
Not quite sure how GM has done it, but when I go to any GM site, I find about 2 cars I would love to own (Avalanche, Vette, Escalade EXT). A tahoe/yukon would be cool an all but i really don't mind not having one. They seriously need to come out with some cool shit soon, or they are going to fall behind ford in sales. (alright, they probably won't but ford will hurt them)

minor things yes, ilke changing the oil, sparkplugs, air filter..ect, i know how to do a lot more but considering i have an aftermarket warenty on my car that covers just about anything, i tend to take it in for major reparis...and hey it is a mustang so those arent that uncomen. case in poin: yester day my A/C quit working, it could be any # of things but im beting the compressor seized since it doesnt cycle on at all! well either that or moabey the compresor cluch..truthfully i dont know, so rather than trying to do this myself im simply gonna take it in to my trusted mechanic, pay 25bucks, and have the A/C fixed :D im also gonna have him fix my tach(it has a bad ground i think and keeps quiting on me, the readings are also waaaaay off) and the engine is also ideling really rough,it may need a tune up, it may need somthing else, but since i dont really know im gonna have them look at it, diagnose the problem, and fix it.what the hell its in anyway, they might as well make it run like a champ while its there right? dont get me wrong i LOVE working on my car! :D but if its acting weird(wich it often does) and i dont really know why, and i know its covered under warenty, then thats when i take it in...just outta curiousity what kinda car do you have? i take it you do your own work?..just wondering ;)

but I'm kinda glad I got it, my stock tach reads a few hundred rpm lower than what it's realy at.

yeah my stock tach is a p.o.S., i fucking hate it! but im not gonna replace it, just have it fixed for now...the mustangs going in tonight, the a/c is dead, the tach doesnt work right, AND the cheack engine light came on today :( not good....plus i have to pimp the minivan around tonight and tomarow :( god damn that things slow....stupid mustang :mad:

LOL :D my freand used to have an oldsmobile siloute(sp) beater mini van that he used to deliver papers in. it had 184,000miles on the clock and was still going! :eek: till he blew a head gasket that is! one of the motor mounts also went so when youd rev the engine to hard it would rock back and forth, the hood got all dented because of it, it was fucking halirous:D damn that thing was shity, but it was still a lot of fun...hehe, we used to call him soccermom! :p ahhh...of course now he has a big redneack truck that would kill my car so i cant really call him that anymore :( oh well........
