is it really worth it. I mean you take the time to take out your seats and door panels for what another tenth in the quarter. I mean the interior cant weigh that much, cause i hear guys all the time oh my car is gutted and raced out. I just dont understand the hype. Is it worth it?

I don't think it's worth it in my crx, there might be 100 pounds at the most, which is only about a 1/10th in the quarter.
now if you had a newer civic, there might be more weight to be saved.

if you dont understand why weight redutcion is important , you dont belong on a race track , you belong in a car show or cruising real slow down city street and thats it .
. . . . . race with full interior and full tank of gas ,
then race with gutted interior , empty gas tank , no ac, and whatever else you wanna take out , and tell me you dont feel a diff.
i have seen hatches pull some sick times with my motor in it . . . know why , becuase they are light as hell.

well i wasnt trying to get all out there and take out my A/c power steering and all that crap, and all that i was simply asking if i take out my seats and door panels is that gonna help me enough to feel a difference in your 1/4 mile times.

depends on what all you take out . . .take out the seats , {pass, rears], spare tire, jack . rear panels, door panels. . . that can add up and make a diff. free mods, gotta love em .
ask any true racer, a 10th of a second is a 10th of a second . no matter what you do to get faster its worth it becuase you are faster. . . . sorry had to throw that in there.
but that 10th of a sec could mean winning and losing .

yeah i guess your right but i would rather say i ran 12.5 with full interior then the guys who say they run 12.5 with nothing in but them, then they say its their daily driver meanwhile when they leave the track they put back the 18's the leather interior and all that crap back. To me its like yeah you ran a 12.5 on the track but your to running that on the street.

yeas but think of it , how many people do you see on the streets with a 12 sec car that will do 12's on the street. now many for one reason . . . traction.
yea it would be nice to say you did 12.5 full interior . but hey like i said . that ectra 10th of a sec you spent 700$ or so on , that next person got for free by using their head .
12.5 full interior. . . . gut it and run 12.3.
i dont give a crap about seat s and ac and all that , i run my car on the street how i run at the track except the slicks .
all i got in my car is mydash and controls, driver seat, carpet, and a bottle of nitrous.

i wasnt saying 12.5 as a specific time i was giving an example. Anyways besides the point i was trying to say if your run your car without that stuff then g oahead that your choice but what i was saying is for those that run a time on the track but then put all that stuff right back in that car after they leave the track..

obviously less weight = faster (like my crx ;) )
my car being lightweight is the only reason it's fast. but I like having the full intierior, and in my car, there's not a lot of weight to be saved without going all-out race-only.
if I had a newer civic with a/c and power everything, I wouldn't remove it all for the sake of a few tenths of a sec in the 1/4 mile and a little bit better braking and handling. I'd rather add some more boost, and upgrade other parts to make up for the extra 100 pounds or so.

the thing with my car the way it is now is that people always say "ooh, but your car is stripped". ok, it is right now, but I only save about 50 pounds max right now because I'm only missing door and hatch panels. and when I win by more than a couple cars lengths, I would have won regaurdless of the weight saved by the door panels.
and when people brag about their "street killa" car and qoute some really low track time, then go on to say that time was without all the seats except for the driver's seat, no spare tire, no this, no that, and slicks. well, then that time isn't comparable at all to the street version with all that stuff back in, and on street tires.
that's all I'm talking about, take the car to the track, and run what you brung, and say that's what you run on the street. then go ahead and remove all the other stuff to see how fast you can go and then you know the "track" version and the "street" version of your car.

good way to say it .
its up to you if its worth it to you or not . do you have an extra 1/2 hr to take your interior out? then another 1/2 to put it in . if you do then its worth it .
its not hard to do and once your used to doing it , it goes alot quicker.
shit with my other teg, i used to totally take out the stereo, seats, put on smaller wheels and take out the panels just to run faster. and the funny thing is it was a show car, then i took the shit out and raced it. , then put it back in to show .
