got a 96 accord lx and am looking for a little boost. i only want to run like 6-8 lbs. can i run this amount of boost w/o a FMIC? if so, what would i need to do this, obviously the manifold, turbo. it needs to be emssions legal, so im guessing an internal wastegate or an internal/external, downpipe. prolly like at least 310 injectors and the oil lines. anything else? im looking to get something together soon so if anyone has anything i can use, let me know. prolly looking at a T3 also, something like .48/.42

Why would you not want a FMIC? Thats the nicest visual part on your car I think if you have a turbo!

Well I agree with Joad, but everyone has their own thing. I think you can get away with the stock injectors, seeing how it's not a lot of boost.I would ask Accordy2G as he is our Accord brain here on the site. You would also need an FMU or someway to adjust the fuel pressure as boost comes in.I would also get some colder plugs to help prevent detonation. You will also wanna get some kind of blow-off valve to prevent compressor surge. From the top of my head, that's all I can think of.Good luck man,let us know how it comes out. ;)

To run only 6-8 lbs its best to get a FMIC cause the air will heat up and you will not receive as much HP if you did have the IC. But if you dont want to have one the thats your choice. I would add to that list what spooled said, A FMU,BOV,and colder plugs. I ran 9psi on my f23 motor with all no problems, oh and by the way if you get a fuel pump there will be no need to get bigger injectors. I only had a fuel pump and the stock injectors and i was running rich at the 9psi. Also i would get a A/F gauge. When me and Candyman first installed my turbo thats helped greatly cause after 7psi the car bean leaning out, then we added the fuel pump and that fixed that prob. Good Luck with it.

its not so much that i dont want a FMIC, just tryng to cut costs where possible. what about an H23 N/A instead? pros and cons of each?

you can find a used turbo kit for less than 2k. The pro to putting a turbo kit is that its a bolt on process not really much involved in it and it leaves possiblity to increase HP later on, while the H23 cost around that, plus adding cost of installation. I personally would go for the turbo kit rather than the swap especially if your concerned about cost.

I wouldn't get the turbo kit without the turbo. you're not really saving that much, especially later on if you upgrade to the front mount, you're gonna have to redo your piping, so you'll end up doing the piping twice.

like accordy2g said, you're looking at about 2k for a used turbo kit, the H22A will cost you about $2,200 plus misc parts, plus shipping.

if you have the cash, the H22A will be a great basis for a lot of power, but more money.

You can most likely pick up a Mitsubishi Starion intercooler for a decent price at your local junkyard (or off the net). Should be somewhere between 150 - 200 for the intercooler and then just take it to a welder who can modify the end tanks (costs like 30 bucks) so you can use it on your application.
