View Full Version : T3 or T3/T4?

i have the opportunity to get my hands on a T3 for next to nothing. Now i know its smaller than the T3/T4 that a lot people use, but if i did get the it would help me spool up a bit quicker but what do you think the max psi that size turbo could hold??

on what car will it be going on?
if its going on your accord, then i say get it. it will work fine and spool up faster. about the psi, i'm not sure, you'll have to ask someone who has more hands on experiance w/ boost. E.g. Candyman

well from my experience a t3 with an internal wastegate is good up to about 15 pounds, after that the turbo starts to spin too fast and the air is thinner & hotter also the wastgate really starts too spike boost a lot. if its external they will hold 15 pounds with no spiking. and later on you can switch the front to the t4 housing and wheels.

cool thanks, yeah its gonna be running on an external wastegate. Yeah its going on my accord.

I just found out that it has an internal wastegate. I would rather it have an external wastegate, but the guy told me that i would have to get a flange for my downpipe that makes it become an external so i can use my wastegate. Is this true? If not how can i make the turbo an external wastegate?

humm, have to see it to be sure about making it work with an external wastegate.

well i know that you can weld the lil door on the back of the exhaust housing where the wastegte is and use the downpipe. and i have heard that there is a flange now that does it for you. i think i saw it on ebay.

yeah, you can get the flanges that just don't have the opening for the internal wastegate.

oh ok then cause when i heard that i thought the guy was Bsing me but ill just get the flanges.
