i just happen to see a few of these on eby. anyone ever deal with these? do they actually work?

I doubt they would work, you need to flow a hole lot of air to force feed an engine. got the link??

I still don't think they flow enough to give boost to a car engine, at least not all the way through redline. maybe a smaller motor would see boost.

maybe 9seccivic would know how much cfm a honda engine needs to see boost.

thats NOT an electronic turbo! thats just some little P.O.S. fan! can anybody say SCAM?! that thing will actually cause a restriction to your air intake and posibly damage your engine! heres the link that explains all this:

personaly i dont think the real ones do much, i wouldnt waste my money ;)

i actually seen some dorks back east using leaf blowers the gas powered ones and trying to blow into the intake with them, they actually would hook a throttle cable up to the cars throttle so it would increase speed with the car, hmmmm back east technology, anyways

yeah they sell those for celica too... bleh. they totally would not work... a leaf blower.. maybe on a kia. :)

There are electric turbos, but not for what we would want, they only build 1-3 psi of boost and their flow rating is just at 250-300 cfm, they are made by Eaton and they are being developed for filling in the dead spot (turbo lag) before the actual turbo spools up.These units require a 48 volt electrical system which we will start seeing in the next few years. Hope this helps

i saw one on ebay about a week ago pushing 600 cfm with half the turbo lag, it looked like a mini industrial fan, i think they call it a squirel cage fan. i think someone should try it on their ride i might do it on my nissan pickup.

Alright, turbos work so damn well because not only do they increase airflow, but they also create pressure. There is no way a simple fan can accomplish this. Someone mentioned a 600 cfm fan could create 1-3 psi of boost. I can understand that, but anything less than 600 cfm wouldn't really do much. Look at the complex design of a turbocharger. Do you really think if all it took was fan blades that engineers would have gone to that much trouble (wait, they would of cause they are engineers, nevermind). Alright, Ive said enough....

yeah, I think at low rpms, on a small motor, they could flow enough to create a couple psi. but they don't flow enough air to have boost at redline.

It may have a few months ago when these were still new, like the post? Technology has changed so much since then, that there is something better out by now I am sure. :-) LoL

I say save the ca$h, and just get a fat friend like Barney, and cut holes in the floorboard of your ride, have Wilma, and some other broad from the club in the back, and pedal away. I say good for at least a few extra horses?? :-) I think the Flinstones smoked a few people at street drags, they just don;t like to show it on TV, might scare the kids :-)
