Yet another weekend at E-town, but this time I came home w/ a trophy and a new best time <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)-->

I made it through 4 rounds of elimination bracket racing!!

My first run of the day was:
R/T .533
60' 1.945
1/4 13.884 @ 96.4 <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif" alt="Cool" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::cool:-->

Then ran two 14.1's so I decided to dial in a 14.09..

The slowest R/T I had all day was a .537!! But sure enough I got to the 4th round with 8 guys left and me and I redlighted <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif" alt="Frown" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::(--> w/ a .468 and then ran a 14.045 so regardless I would have lost. Especially b/c the guy next to me was within 5/100ths of his dial-in.. damn he's good.

But overall I had a really fun day, next time I'm coming home with $$$.. lol, yea riight..

Lastly I do have a question for you bracket racers b/c I'm confused how I won it here are the times:

His times:
Dial 15.1
R/T 1.043
60' 2.459
1/4 15.264
MPH 92.7

My times:
Dial 14.15
R/T .537
60' 2.194
1/4 14.330
MPH 95.79

Now I understand that there is a handicap for him, and that his lights are to light up before mine...

Secondly, if you do the math 15.264-15.1=.164 & 14.330-14.15=.18 and his was technically closer this way. So obviously my R/T is what won this for me, but how and where does that fit into the equation?

a "perfect" bracket run would be a .500 r/t and then run your exact dial-in time. this would give your opponent no advantage, he would have to run perfect also. so basically what decides who wins in bracket racing is the difference between a perfect r/t and actual r/t, and the difference between your dial-in and your actual run.

so if my dial-in is 15.0, and I run a .600 r/t with a 15.2 timeslip, that's a total of .300 difference, .100 from the r/t (.600 - .500 = .100) and .200 from the difference from my dial-in and actual time (15.2 - 15.0 = .200).

in your case...

his time differences were - .164 on the run and, the killer for him, .543 on the r/t, for a total of .707 seconds advantage for you.

your time differences - .180 on the run and .037 on the r/t! he was closer to the dail-in, but you destroyed him on the r/t and that's why you won!

so keep those r/t's down and you'll keep doing good! <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->

Yes, a stock WRX is SUPPOSED to run a 14.3... but thats in ideal driving conditions with a professional driver.

I'm no pro, and the weather got a little hot in the middle of the day, I have no tread left on my tires and my car was running extremely hot. I had VERY little traction off the line due to the lack of tread so I wasn't launching as hard as I can in fear of blowing a tire out (metal is showing). Lastly, I was getting tired by the end of the day so I'm sure that had something to do with it as well.

Still I was really happy with my performance, and making it as far as I did in the eliminations that day.

So yes, my times are a little slow for a 'modified' WRX and I am expecting higher traps as soon as my alignment is fixed and the new tires are on.

no I am not talking ETs I am talking traps. You should be trapping higher than stock but your failing to do so which I was wondering if your aware of?

I'm thinking your shifting slow from gear to gear but I dunno your the only one who can shed some real light on the topic.

Hell no, stock 16's with worn factory tires!! LMAO

My trap speed is about average..

There's always room for improvement and you're absolutely right, it can go faster...

Maybe a shift light and knowing where the powerband lets off would help.. I've been having problems figuring out when and at what RPM is the best to shift the car, which is more than likely the cause for the low trap speed.

I get a little nervous topend 2nd b/c I don't know where the rev limiter is and would rather not find it on the track. Is the rev limiter the same for all gears?

Also, I normally trap in 3rd, slightly past redline, and about to shift or hit the RL. When I ran the 13.8 though, I had shifted into 4th gear before the trap, and had seriously wound out 2nd too..

Thoughts? Comments?

you just gotta learn what the car likes. i dont knwo how the gearing is in that thing . i know prev in my car i was ending in the top of 4th, but i have shorter gearing.
the rev limit is the same in all gears , just tap it off the limiter once to see where it is . it wont break anything i swear

I've found it in third gear, so it must be the same in second!! Damn, maybe I should have studied logic.. lol.

As soon as this trani goes I'm getting a different gear set, with better ratios..(Turbo mag, WRX tuning attack says it all)

That is if someone doesn't crash an STi first... if that happens I'm ganking the 6-speed trani and the 2.5L engine... lol..
