Yesterday was the opening Import vs. Domestic Elimination match at E-town. I was there by 7:30am to guarantee a spot... uhhh..

I decided to compete in the Street Tuner class, which is for cars 14.00-14.99. My boyfriend signed up for the Street Outlaw class.. anything under 13.00..

My first time trial was a disaster.. the track was wet and I had no traction out of first gear and was slipping all over the place. Wound up running a 15.3 @ 95.7... yiiikes... My friends were also making fun of my 1.097 R/T <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:-->

My boyfriend's first run was even better, half way down the track his motor blows up and he winds up putting to the finish w/ a 13.9 at 88mph... He then spent the rest of the day having the car towed and so forth.. guess the new motor HAS to go in now.. <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)-->

So now onto my second run, I decided I wouldn't launch as hard hoping to get more traction off the line... my times are as followed

R/T .508 <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif" alt="Eek" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::eek:-->
60' 2.107
330 5.966
1/8 9.178
MPH 76.49
1000 11.939
1/4 14.276 <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->
MPH 95.81

My friends almost died when they saw my R/T which they immediately called 'luck'.. uh huh... I let them laugh.. could very well have been a lucky run..

So I was psyched with a 14.2, the funny part is that I was still in 3rd gear!! If I didn't baby the launch and had shifted into 4th by the end of the track I think I could broke into the 13's!!!

But there were so many cars we couldn't have a third run so that was it. Now the elimination match began.. I dialed in a 14.2, which I thought was safe... and decided to baby the launch like I did last time..

My times for my third run are as follows:
R/T .510 <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif" alt="Eek" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::eek:-->
60' 2.019 <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->
330 5.831
1/8 9.031
MPH 76.72
1000 11.777
1/4 14.110
MPH 92.94 <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:-->

So I lost... and now I wanted to kick myself in the butt. I knew my run was going faster than the last one so I let off the gas at the end of the track fearing I was going to break my time.. which I wound up doing anyways.

My friends asked what my R/T was and this time they were speechless...lucky twice in a row? I think not. I simply used some good advice I got on CH <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)--> Pre-load at the second amber, dump on the third calls for a near perfect R/T!! Sweeeeet!!! Thanks guys!!

So now I KNOW my car is capable of doing better than a 14.1 and it going to drive me nuts until I get back to the track. Even so, I was psyched I did this well my first time out this season, I may not have won anything but it was a great learning experience.

Can't wait until the next match... <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->

It's funny how people thought I had a lot more done to my car than I do...

The exhaust alone dropped my best run last season of 14.7 to a 14.1 and I'm positive I will break into the 13's.

How old are you?? Up here kids can't even get a license until they're 18.. permit at 17. I know in FL it's 16, since that's where I got my first license <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:;)-->.

On my first run the track was wet so I launched my normal 5500 and couldn't get the tires to grip..

I also saw my friends WRX damn near sideways due to the water as well... after enough complaining they torched it again..

Regardless what you drive if the track is wet you're not getting traction...

water? your supposed to go around the burnout box not through it. Is that what your talking about? tires being wet from rolling through that? Or was there actually water in the staging area, if so thats friggen nuts. Were everyone's 60 foots horrible then that day?

nice times though, I am really anxious (sp?) to get out to the track this summer. Just work on your launches some more, you should be definately able to cut a sub 2.0 60 foot and you'll be in the 13s.

No, no.. not the burnout water pit!! lmao...

There was a trench of water you HAD to pass through to get to the track (all the snow was melting and dripping from the building)... It was major BS, but once the sun came up it dried, but those of us who were of the firsts down the track were sliding all over the place and was a run put to waste.. $hit happens.. <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::rolleyes:-->

Rotary, are you coming out to any events in Jersey this year?

There weren't many RX-7s there, I was kind of surprised..

I'm going to the track on Weds night and I'm going to break into 13's... weather pending.

I know I can... <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->

Once my man gets his built motor he'll be going a lot faster than 13's.. keep in mind he was going 88mph when he crossed at 13.9, I would have to be going at least 90+ to hit a hi 13...

well I highly doubt it, NJ is just too far away for me. Furthest east I'll be will probably where ever we decide to have the northeast meet *cough*PA*cough*. Milan up here is a pretty good track with a ton of events this summer. There are Wednesday night drags every week so I'll probably be hitting those up (best time to score a good trap will be at night with cooler weather).
