How much does a focus weigh?
2,598 lbs is what I found for the ZX3 hatch, couple that with 130 hp, I dont think that it could beat and Si
the SVT specs are:
2750 lbs 170 hp 145 lb/ft it has a slight hp advantage and more torque, but is more than 100 lbs heavier than my Si, I think that it would be a close race. I want to race one....

hey i cant deny facts, its true ford never does it right the first time as far as reilabilty goes. your always taking a risk with a newer model ford...

the focus has been out for 4 years now, was introduced in europe in 98' and then here in 99 as an 00 model. i know they had an assload of recalls, but i think they've actually gotten all the kinks worked out of it now. mine really hasnt had any problems as of yet, i actually love the car. its a lot of fun to drive and meets all my needs perfectly. there isnt a single car out there thats better than the focus for the money.(notice i said for the money!). it beats everything else in its price range and is a leader in its class. its also gained world wide popularity, if you go over to ireland or england you'll see em everywhere. there more commen than civics its crazy. as far as the SVT vs the SI, well that depends. i think its a fair race for the 99-00 si's, although those are better performing cars, ill admit that. frankly though i think the 03 si is a joke, it really hasnt gone over well and when you compare it to the SVT, well the SVT is a better buy. its also a very remarkable car. its new and fresh and full of technology. they really spent a lot of time devolping this car, where as the new civic si seems a little half assed to me. more of the same from honda. that was the great thing about the 99-00 si's, no one was expecting it and they just came out and far exceded everyones expectations. it redifined honda and showed everyone what it was capable of(again). but the newer model jut doesnt cut the mustard. i think the focus does a good job of compeating well in the SC market. hell in europe theres the 215hp turbocharged focus RS(god i wish we had that!). so it def holds its own. as far as this gay kid with the slow 4 door se, well he has a SOHC 100hp dog of a car. its the equvlent of a civic DX, dont listen to his ass. <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::rolleyes:--> the SPI focus engines are ment for rental cars and really frugal comuters, thats it. theres no reason NOT to get the ztec engine cuz the MSRP on a focus is only around 13k. my guess, his parents bought him his first car and now hes stuck with it. oh well, his problem not mine. to be perfectly honest though im a little tired of the anti-focus mentality amoungst all the "real" tuners. not nesscary you guys, just in general. honda has some good competition from its domestic rivals, ford and dodge are making some really great cars right now and even GM has some cool stuff on the horizon. the bottem line here is that the focus has proven itself to be a great car, so dont knock it just cuz its a ford. you guys act like that the mark of death(waits for response <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::p-->)

That's good stuff right there Tim. I agree with alot of what you said especially with regards to the 03 Si. The car definitely has some issues (though can be easily helped with aftermarket) that they should have looked more into. My main gripe with the 03 Si is the weight. You would figure with it being a hatchback it would be somewhat lighter than the previous generation which is not the case. They did listen to the people though as alot of people who bought the 99-00's complained about torque and they answered with a 2 liter but, the smaller rev band and the weight is what I believe to be holding the car back from being kick ass performer. Though now, I can see why they might have done what they did, since the recent announcment of the possible release of the Civic-R. Stiffer lowered stance, 17inch wheels, 197hp 145ft lbs and the rev happy powerband should make for a sweet ride and a possible trade-in for me <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->

no civic can, or will be as fast stock as an integra/rsx. honda has to justify the higher cost of an rsx over a civic, and a big part of that is performance. if a civic, for less money, performs better than a more expensive rsx-s or what have you, theres little justification for the consumer to buy the rsx. thats why we've never had a ctr before, and the si's we've had have always been slower than the teg gsr's or type r's. honda will maintain its performance hierarchy, and i doubt we will get a ctr without the rsx- r

ah the wonders of high school bull**** drama... but seriously, i take issue with your statements. we all want show cars?? please dumbass there arent many, if any, regular posters with show cars. we are enthusiasts, and we like fast cars, not pussy ass 17 second show pos's. v8 conversion? really id like to see that. what planet are you from again? do you have any idea what kind of work it takes to make a 4cylinder, fwd car into a rwd v8? theres no problem with havin a car for enjoyment and not racing, no one here will fault you for that. we get pissed when you come on here and start bad mouthin our members and their cars. we're a small site and a pretty close group, so when some clown like you comes on here and starts sayin how great your 100hp focus is, we get a little annoyed, and we give you whats coming to you.

actually you can put a ford mustang 302(5.0) v8 in a focus. ive seen it done. in fact autoweek had an article where someone put a 500hp 2003 cobra motor in a focus. <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D-->

the problem is its expensive as **** to do, and not really worth it IMO. the cobra conversion not including the price of the car was somthing like 60k, and the 302 is more like 15k(again not including the car!). for a fraction of that you could beef up a base zx3, which is already a lot of fun to drive, and make it even better. the V8 conversions are neat though. it looks like a lot of ****ing fun <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::D--> especaily the cobra motor one(think second gear burnouts <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::p-->)

3000 bucks to convert a focus to rwd and a v8, how come that sounds very very fishy to me. prove it. your talking about re arranging the entire layout of the car when you switch from fwd to rwd, i find it almost impossible that theres no custom work needed to be done to make it fit.

its more like 15,000-25,000 the v8 alone will cost you AT LEAST 3k, most likely more than that. and yes it does take a lot of work...
