dude you will never get back what you put into it....that goes the same for every project car, dont waste your time and money, either hook it up for your own enjoyment, or sell it...but dont hook it up for the purpose of selling it...no informed smart person wants to buy a hooked up car. most used car shopers look for somthing in nice STOCK condition thats been well maintained and adult driven..mods scream"i was owned by a kid and beat to death" your much, much better off selling it as it is, find out what the blue book value of the car is and try and sell it for close to that...but dont dump thousands of dollars into it, thats just retarded :rolleyes:

The reason I don't want it for myself is because insurance is ten times as expensive on the del sol as opposed to the accord.

with 10 points on 3 tix, $7500 a year. The Accord is only $2200 a year (because it is so old, i suppose) The kick in tha balls is that right now the accord could dust the del sol.

There is knowone hating on Del Sols on this board, just suggesting that if you want to have a serious street race car you would need to mod a Del SOL, MUCH more due to the fact that the car is too heavy. I personally used to have one, among many other cars I have owned, and it was tight, but even with the b16 swap it was slow. Most people on this board are about building FAST cars, and commonly suggest the cheaper, less expensive ways to do go fast upgrades.

I don't know exactly how much the stock Del Sol weighs, but ENOUGH. If you hooked up a Civic Coupe, Integra, or a Civic Hatchback they would ALL be faster if you had equal mods. ALSO, that hatchback with the Blue Flames is ALWAYS driving around here in Orlando. I see it parked over at S3 Tuning every once in a while. Looks slow as hell, but you have to love the tail lights :-) Man I wish I could be Fast and Furious!

i definently agree. you have people hookin up hatches and coupes for race whats wrong with hookin up a del sol s? weighs the same or less as a coupe or a hatch. throw a nice setup and call it a day. before u rebuttal go to darksol.com and check out the engine swap guide it will give you the specs of just about any usually modded honda.

not to mention, the 94 Del Sol VTEC is the fastest OEM (non modded) Civic based platform until like 2000 or so. with some i/h/e and head work, i wouldnt have a doubt in my mind that i could smoke a prelude and do it in style.. top off and tune's thumpin.
Hell, a b18c5 would Own if you put some cash into it..
even a b16a3 with a snail could own up.. and because their "bubbley cutesy look", they'd be a great canidate for an h22 sleeper..
I personally get a kick out of the Neon's that pester me arround town for a race... if i see another riced out domestic im going to go histarical.. let alone one of the 3,092,340,982,409,824 rice burners in my state. clean's the look... and every time they think theyre fast and furious, i feel contempt that i could blow the doors off of each and every one of them, stock.

your pretty stupid timmy. what year coupe or hatch are you talkin about. im speaking of 92 and up coupes and hatches. a del sol s weighs less to about the same to a 92 & up coupe or hatch. second of all what coupe or hatch do you know that comes fast straight from the factory? a del sol vtec (94) is the fastest stock platform civic. Yes even as fast or faster then a 99-00 si. when i was stock i walked the the dogs on those coupes aka "poops". A del sol vtec will run a 15.5- 15.7 so how are you gonna say they are underpowered civics. the del sol vtec weighs 2491 the "s" weighs about 2200 and some change. how much do you think 92-00 hatches and coupes weigh? within in the same region. I have a 94 del sol vtec with an fmax kit i currently run 12.79 @ 107 its not big sponsorship material but i would say that it is fast. 1st of all i like this dude thundersol. second of all a del sol 94 VTEC will beat a 99-00 Si. however, it depends on driver and a del sol is older hence older motor and you lose a few hp on older motors (compression too).

I think some of you guys sound like clowns.Before you talk and run your mouth about how slow del sol's are and how "DANG heavy they are" MAYBE, just maybe should should try driving one, or possibly just going for a ride in one, how about that???? Here are a few things, 1.Mustangs are Gay! 2.go for a ride in a vtec sol. 3.Dudes that drive Nissan's shouldn't even be talking about this and 4.Boostedb16a3 has a fast ass ride!

the Si is a SOHC vtec, and from the stats ive seen they weigh about what? 2400 pounds or so right? its certianly light, but unless you put a better motor in there like a GSR or somthing its not going to be Oh my god fast or anything like that. i can see how there fun cars but most of the ones ive seen come off as being a little cheap looking. i think if honda had made the car a little more performance oriented they would have had a next generation CRX on their hands(in tearms of sales). i think the car just fell a little short of everyones expectations of it. kinda like the new SI. great platform, but leaves a little somthing to be desired. of course this is just based on my observations, i could be wrong <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15">

From what i see your car weighs between 2350-2550lbs depending on what model you have compared to my sol that weighs around 2400. So where are you gettin that my car weighs 275lbs more than yours????? I thinks you should get some facts striat before you start talkin, and hey, like you said, all im tryin to do is make myself look good, haha...rite...what do i have to prove to some clown like you. this blows, i have been savin $$$$ to get a new paint job (from black to white), also to get a carbon fiber hood. Just had a new clutch put in 2 weeks ago, that was $$$$pissed away. Now my tread is wearing on the inside of my rear driver side tire. Tires are less than 1 year old, i dont know if its my camber, rear is out of line, or what the hell is goin on <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif" alt="Frown" width="15" height="15">. I had to get my rear main seal replaced along with the new clutch. Total labor was $280 which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I bought my own clutch before i took it to the shop which only ran about $200. i think is is going to the right place...say man i built my sol from the ground up....total cost to get her runing right...not including body kit rims and all the other goods was about 3000$
new motor and tranny installed...and insurrance hahahaha u guys need to move man i pay 125$ month
but i aslo have a good record and some what of a hook up through the inssurance guy..and well the car isnt in my name lol that might have something to do with it but she is MINE regaurdless of what that pink slip says....ne way man im runnin high 13s on a good day for under 6000$ for everything
and i dont plan on selling it...

i didnt read to far into this post but if u wanted to fix her up to sell her DONT DO IT fix her up for yourself well worth it but thats just me i love my car and will defend her with my life and my gat if need be lol HAAA

Well, just to answer the original question...

I'd stick with the del Sol S, first off its the lightest sol, throw in an engine and it has the weight advantage. Everyone always talks about the del Sol being heavy but its not, its pretty light actually. Yes the doors are reinforced because of the top. Granted the del Sol isn't as light as a crx, but it does compare to some of the hatchs. Its about 200 pounds lighter than the coupes.

But if you're not going to keep it, just sell it off and let it be someone else's project car. It takes out all the fun out by buying someone else's creation. You can make those sols quick, don't underestimate them!
