For those who thought Del Sol's couldnt be fast or were too slow:

The new Sport Compact Car Magazine has a red del sol running 12.8 in the 1/4 mile and only 240hp. Now those are impressive times and the nice thing its looks good from the exterior as well. It has a b16 swap (si) with 7psi of boost with mild other lil mods but what really helps his times is the ITR tranny and LSD. yeah but how much money did they spend to get it to that point?

1800 = b16a
2500 = turbo kit
=4300 for 12.8 i can deal with that.

+ time(rember time is money ;) still though thats not too shaby, especaily for 1/4 mile times comparable to a Z06 Vette, ferari F1, or mustang cobra, nice, very nice.....*claps* :D

WAIT a sec...your telling me a fuggin engine swap only costs $1800? :confused: sorry that seams a bit low to me....im not flamin here but please explain as i am a tad confused by this :confused:

ya know on second thought im not quite sure i agree with thease #s..i would think the buget for a project del sol that runs high 12's would be closer to 10g, not 5g....i mean i guess if you got the engine out of a wreacked car and did all the work yourself its posible...i dunno for some reason that just doesnt sound right to me... :confused:

del sol SI vtec's come stock with b16's. so maybe he's talking building it up for 1800. that makes more sense to me

oh do they? ok then yeah that makes sence, if you do all the work yourself than that seams posible...i thought it was a complete engine swap and build up thats why i said the #s were a little funny...very cool then

no 1800 for the first gen b16a1 with an lsd tranny. Candyman just purcahsed one from www.hondamotorsonline.com (http://www.hondamotorsonline.com) and it was 1800. Ask him he will tell you that. And i was not talking about a buildup of an engine i was saying for the engine and turbo only would be 4300. Candyman himself has a b16a with a turbo kit and he is running high 12's.

That b16a1 even with LSD is ONLY the cable tranny. The Hydro tranny is better, but that swap complete you are looking at around $2250. $1800 had to only be for the cable, and you can get those for $1250, then add the LSD for like $400 more, that should be $1650.

yeah, my 1st gen B16A with LSD cable tranny swap was $1,850 shipped from hondamotorsonline.com. it was only $1,550 for the swap, cost $300 to get it to florida.

for their article they could have gotten the motor from a junkyard, or from a private seller. it is a good price for the hydro tranny B16A, but figure hondamotorsonline sells that swap for $2,200, there's gotta be a place that sells the swap for less, especially in cali.

I could have bought a whole wrecked 98 gs-r for $3,000, so they could have gotten a swap from someone who was parting out a wrecked del sol vtec or civic si. and figure the guy at the junkyard was making money on me, so he got it cheaper :eek: you don't even want to know what my friend who's dad owns a junkyard paid for his '00 civic Si.

sorry but a lil correction. the del sol si comes with the D16Z6 and the del sol vtec comes with the B16A3

1st off his name is Sudesh Sukhu. It is a del sol vtec which comes with the b16a3 stock. HE spent a good amount for this turbo kit cause its all custom and hes had the car boosted for about 2 1/2 years. It is a pretty basic turbo kit, it just goes to show you what some traction and good tuning can do for you.
