Hi everybody here, I am new to this website, and I am thinking about buying a Del Sol, because it's so cute and adorable. And the person that are selling the car said that he's Del Sol is a VTEC, so I was wondering if Delo Sol VTEC come in an automatic? Or if there any way(s) to tell if it's a Del Sol VTEC? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

well, the del sol came in the "S" "Si" and "VTEC" models.
"S" is the sohc non-vtec 106hp
"Si" is sohc vtec 127hp
"VTEC is dohc vtec 160hp
the "S" and "Si" would be available in auto, but not the "VTEC" model. if the car doesn't have the badge on the back on the trunk, then just check under the hood and look at the motor, if it's vtec it'll say so on the valve cover.

So, if the engine says VTEC on there, even it's an automatic, it's still VTEC?

yeah, if it's got "VTEC" on the valve cover then it's VTEC.

i want a del sol in premo condition. but i don't care what motor is in it cause my buddy candyman will be dropping a B20 vtec in the sombitch. damn that would be fun. oh, and it'll be boosted too. screw air conditioning, thats why it has a targa top. :)

del sols are fast especially when they are VTECs. they have the same motor as the Si and can probably tie a gsr in the 1/4 mile. if a person puts any VTEC valve cover on their motor it does not mean they have VTEC ;).

wouldn't the sohc motor from the Si say VTEC? that doesn't make it a "VTEC" model though... the dohc models; the fast ones, :D did not come in an auto. that would be a dead give away. the valve cover: not so much.... ;)
