View Full Version : Top end on the autobahn!
Last night I was on my way to Berlin, Germany with my girlfriend when finally some excitement happened. The drive is about 5 hours of unlimited speed on the autobahn which is just awesome I think. No need to worry about cops. I was doing about 180 kmh and suddenly I look in my rearview mirror and I see a vw golf flashing at me, so I moved over and he slowly pulls up when I see the car dropped on rims, body kit, exhaust and all kinda racing stickers on it. I could not know what he had under the hood because here the golfs come with like 6 different engines. But anyhow, I did not let this chance go by. When he got infront of me I flored it in 5th and we were both about the same speed and then slowly I start pulling on him. I guess he was doing 220 kmh and maxed out. When I look at my speedometer Im at 235 kmh at almost 8k redline. I was out of revs but I pulled quite some distance on him, not to mention that I only have an exhaust and ported head and intake manifold. Then I slowed down and he wanted to go again but I thought, why race him again if I already smoked him on top end speed. Besides It felt a bit too dangerous. On top of that, my girl sitting next to me was constantly bitching to slow down, pissin me off. Even so, it made my day. Just wanted to share another story! :D

It used to top out at 230 last time I was on the autobahn stock. Now with the catback and ported heads and intake manifold I get an extra 5 km extra. Good enough I think. I dont need that top end speed anyways!

That b16a1 is actually 160HP. Good Kill, sounds like fun...I remember when that happened to me, on the what we in America like to call the "I-5 Los Angeles Autobahn" :-) The ticket says 120+, illegal lanes changes, and evading police, and boy were the cops pissed when they caught me boy. Thank god that was years ago, before the laws got strict, otherwise, I would have THREE arrests for street racing on my record instead of two! Pheww!!! The good ol' days hugh :-)

the conversen from mp/h to km/h is 1.6
235 is 10km/h more than mine does, mine tops out at 225 km/h when the revlimiter kicks in at apr. 7300
Nice kill Joad, hopefully i will be able too make my trip thru Germany myself within the year, plannin on a trip too Switzerland ang go skiing.

Here in holland it is the same and pay something like that within 5 days, otherwise u loose your licence and your car. You will not find me at that speed in Holland. Germany is the place to be for high speeds

same thing here in Norway aswell, 35 km/h above the given speed limit u loose u'r license, any faster than that thy will give u a certain amount of "thinking time" in jail. AND i that wasn't enough, if the court finds that it can be considerd as recless driving thy will impound the car even if u wheren't speeding above the 35 km/h limit, depends on where, when and what type of driving u where doing, like if i where too be caught doing 115 km/h in an 80 zone i'd keep my kar even if i where skidding around alittlebit, but if i get caught in 45km/h skidding around in an 30 km/h zone, they might impound the car and tripple the normal fine, i'd get the car back but not for some time.
they have sooooo many rules here in Norway that it is almost too be sick of. Ohhh, i am angry now
:mad: , just thinking of that the goverment here still considers driving and owning a car is a luxury goods, that way they can justfy high taxes on cars.
We actually have the oldest carpark in the whole of Europe in average, and the lowest alowd speeds on our roads aswell.

They probably keep it like that because of hazardous weather conditions. :(

hehe, maybe, we have atleast 6 months winter up here, a brand new and cheap car would have been nice too have though....
