Okay that was kinda stupid for a subject title, anyways I have a v6 auto 97 accord. There is a place by where I live that installs NOS systems (which is pretty rare in MN). Is this something that I could do to my car as is or is it a bad idea. I don't really care if it can be done or not it would just be fun and I have some cash to burn.

yes you can do it....just throw on a 50 shot...do a ZEX 55 shot and you can do it your self in your garage or driveway in a couple hours...and all you would need is some colder plugs, dont need FPR or a bigger fuel pump..just slap it on and have some fun!

I'd go get a summit racing rpm switch, like $40. then you can just punch it off the line and when you hit around 3k the switch activates the nitrous. then you don't have to worry about hitting the nitrous at too low a rpm.

To answer the question about nitrous being better or faster for an auto. If you're comparing two cars with same mods just different tranmissions the manual car will be faster in the end because it has less drivetrain losses, it's lighter, and the driver has more control over when to change gears. The auto will be able to produce more consistent times, and may also be able to get better launches, but that is about it. With enough money though the auto will ultimately be faster than a manual because a computer will be able to shift faster than any person can.

To the guy that started this thread what do you have done to your car? If it's stock it's not really recomended that you put nitrous on your car because there will be a WHOLE lot more stress put on the motor/transmission especially if it's stock because it will not be able to flow air as easily as a car with mild bolt on's. It will also probably turn your transmission to **** a lot faster since the stock tranny sucks in the first place.

Yeah, my engine is stock. I am not, nor have I ever claimed to be, a mechanic so cars are something I am just now picking up. What do I have to do to the engine in order to make it Nitrous capable. This isn't something that has to be done, I'm just tired of car audio and lighting mods. I'd like to start doing stuff to the engine, but I am thinking I should have got a prelude rather than an accord sedan.

well, yeah pretty much if you want to go quickly in a straight line you really really got the wrong car :p But that's ok because accords are good for going left and right anyway.

As for putting nitrous on your car, it's not that you MUST have stuff done (i.e. basic bolt-on's) it's recomended so that way you'll realize more gains, and you will not put as much stress on your engine because it's trying to force more air in & out with very restrictive equipment. If you run a mild shot you should be ok (50 shot like someone said).

If I were you, i wouldn't waste time looking for mods for your car, there is little to no aftermarket for the c27 engine in your car. You would probably have to get everything custom made which = lots of $$. I would save all my money and get an h22 or just get a 4th or 5th gen 'lude. If you do plan on keeping the accord though or trying to mod it i HIGHLY suggest a transmission cooler Av6's are notorious for having crappy transmissions.

I can testify to that. Thanks. BTW what are the basic bolt-ons?

I have i and e just not the headers.

Oh well that's cool, you probably wouldn't really find much in the way of headers for your car. I THINK the header is already a 4-2-1 design to begin with, so a new one would produce negligible results. You said you have an exhaust already on, i'm assuming it's a cat-back. If you still want to try using nitrous there wouldn't be anything wrong with it, but like i said before you'd be better off saving up for an h22.

i hate rice boys!

if you do want to save up for a h22a putting a 50-60 shot wouldnt be bad to do to hold you over and get a lil HP out of it. Before i put the boost on i was running a 50 shot with no problems.

Question, with the basic bolt ons on my rex, how much can I spay max without hurting the engine too much? Including a clutch and fuelpump...

depends on really how much you plan on using it, I say go for 60-70 shot. As long as everything is put in right, you should be fine. :D

I've seen H22s go for anywhere from 1,400 to 8,000 where is a good place to look for them, and, because I am not a mechanic or comfortable yet with changing engines, how much would it cost to have someone change it out?

you should find a good shop near you to do the swap if you don't feel comfortable swapping the motors. you can get an idea for prices at www.hondamotorsonline.com (http://www.hondamotorsonline.com)

on a stock honda block and fuel system, stickk with the 50 shot, easy on the motor, and you shouldn't max out the fuel system.

I just saved up enough money for a 50 shot, after xmas an all, and I was going to go down to the place that installs them. I found out from hondaswap.com that since I have a c27 engine nothing can be swapped into the car. So I decided to go for the 50 shot. Then a friend from work told me his buddy got the same people to do a setup in his car, a nissan spec v I think or just a sentra with i/h/e, he blew his engine block. So much for that idea guess it will always just be a sedan. which really sucks because everyone sees the lights and the tail pipe and wants to race, but my car isn't all that fast. <img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif" alt="Mad" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::mad:-->
