Where could i find a accord type r engine? I have seached and searched through search engines and only find information on the Type-r's...never a site that sells them. Im not worried about emissions..(cuz my friend works there lol) but I am just trying to find a type r engine...i believe they are rated at 209bhp?..anways

I think the accord type r is gonna be hard to find, since they're only made and sold in the UK.
but they are only a little different than the normal H22A, they come with a LSD tranny and slightly higher compression. you can get a hold of a JDM H22A swap with a LSD tranny for about $2,500.

thats rare to find i just checked hondamotorsonline and they dont even have the accord type r motor for sale. I would go with the h22a with the lsd and you'll be right there with it!

h22a4 is the '01 prelude and the 97-00 preludes are just h22a...and the Accord type R is a h22a7. does my memory serve me right?

I drive a 96 accord ex 5sp. I too was wanting a H22a engine swap. Is it an easy swap to do? and would my tranny be sufficient for the increased HP. How much HP can my tranny handle? Abviously i couldn't install the engine myself, so about how much could i expect to pay to have it done professionally? Thanks guys, i'm just getting into the tuner scene and don't know jack sh#t.
I've got the shows....now i need the goes.

your tranny will be able to hold the power but the gearing is all wrong for that motor. Your drops from each each gear are too long with the accord tranny. Best bet is to get it all at once or start saving for a prelude tranny but dont plan on keeping the accord tranny in. The h22 is the easiest swap to do for the accords. As far as installation prices, they vary but anywhere from 300-500 to swap it in.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah i figured i might need a new tranny... how much do you think a H22a with a matching tranny will run me? (ballpark) I saw that the engines on JDM are $2500 and that's not that bad. Has anyone bought from them? What is there reputation? I ain't trying to get screwed ya know!
