I'm a part of NASA now

yup, just became a part of NASA yesterday, pretty easy, just sign up online and pay a membership fee :) oh yeah, it's not the space shuttle kinda NASA, its the National Auto Sport Association :D I haven't decided 100% yet but I'm probably going to enter the CRX into a road racing event in October at Sebring Raceway.

their setup is pretty cool, for the newbs you go around the track with a professional instructor and they're helping you the whole time. after you've gone to a couple of events you can graduate to the higher class where you don't need the instructor in the car. it sounds cool to me because it's not a parking lot with cones, it's a real track and you can get out of 2nd gear :D

Good stuff. I would so do something like that but there are no tracks around me. I will look into it but I doubt it.

Always thought about a meet renting like mid-ohio or something like that for a day....would be cool.

the more I look at it the more fun it looks like it will be, especially with a real driver letting you know what you're doing wrong :) there's a couple of things I want to do to my car before going to a track event like this so we'll see if I go to the october event or wait till the next one.

I contacted Mid-Ohio to see what they charge to rent the track for a day :D see what they say. Eric what tracks are near you? maybe we skip the dragon for a day at a real track, at least there are no cliffs to fall off of :)

That's what I'm talking about ! It would be so awesome ! I would suggest watkins glenn but I am not sure they rent the track for a day, not to mention it's stupid far for everyone to come too...hell it's far for me and I'm in NY...LoL

I'm going to contact Lowe's Motorspeedway too, they're in Charlotte, NC not too far from Eric. That would be a pretty central meeting place for everyone. We'll have to see if any of the tracks is even affordable for such a small group. I think to rent out Moroso, which is a small track compared to other as far as facilities, was about $3,000 a day.

V.I.R. Is where i'm planning on going with the shop that tuned my car. Like hour and a half from my house in VA. Waiting on them to plan the trip since they'll be hooking me up. I'm not sure how lowe's motor speedway will do it. I think they may set-up an infield track that outlets to like turn 3-4 of the big track. But yeah, they have straightaways where you get to use all gears! ahhh just talking about it gets me hyped!

I was going to do what you were talking about on my bike at vir. NESBA would have an instructor in front and behind you watching what you do and critiqing you. It really is the best way to learn.
The last auto-x I was at alot of the pro drivers would take you around the course in your own car and show you how much you the driver limit the cars ability!!!

Lowes I'm sure will be quite expensive. I think we will have better luck with the smaller venues or not so popular venues. VIR looks pretty badass, mid ohio though kicks major ass....has some wicked elevation changes. Would be sweet to set something like that up.

VIR looks cool, Eric when is the shop planning on going? Lowe's has a cool infield section that ties into the main course, you still run about 3/4's of the main track including the 2300' straightaway :D

just watched that clip. HOLY SHIT! and the driver of the car that almost got destroyed was so a little shaken up but still kinda calm. yeah in that video you would have heard my car come to a screeching holt, a lot of cursing, my helmet come off, and the door open as i walked towards that asshole yelling and screaming. yeah its a track event, but that idiot was totally off the course. kick his ass off and never let him drive there again.
