right now you can only lease it, 3 years, $600 a month. that includes any kinda service and insurance so it's not too bad. I think they're just doing it that way to test it out before a mass release, plus I guess hydrogen cars aren't insurable yet by regular insurance companies. there's also limited places to refuel. you have to live in a certain area of california to be able to get one right now, I'd at least check it out if I was in that area.
