View Full Version : ok so the dragon pointed out some weaknesses in the crx's suspension setup

well I definately had fun on the dragon but the back end wasn't as planted as I would have liked it to have been. I think the main reason was the fact that my rex didn't come with a rear sway bar at all. so now I'm finally getting around to installing the front / rear suspension techniques sway bar kit I've had for a while. the front I put in the other day, that was easy, the back won't be as easy since the exhaust is in the way. the exhaust shop I go to said to just cut the exhaust out of the way, install the bar, then they'll install the exhaust around everything. I'm anxious to see the difference once it's done.

the other thing is that I have awesome falken 615 autocross front tires, they're pretty sticky, 200 treadwear, but I have ok rear tires, 320 treadwear. basically between the sway bar in front and the sticky tires in front, the car is so unbalanced and the back won't stay planted. so before too long I'm going to get two more of the falken 615's, put them on the front and move the ones I already have to the rear. that'll give me some brand new tread to kill in the front and really stick the rear to the ground. then next year I'll be ready to get through the dragon just that little bit faster :D

the car should be pretty nice with the sway bars and the good tires all around, the only thing is that there's not really any good places to test it :( really the only places with cool banked turns are on ramps and off ramps :D

You should set-up a little autocross track!

I mean you have access to a huge parking lot and cones!

lol, this is true :D I'll have to go and autocross the car at some point, SCCA hosts events down in miami pretty regularly.

Once I get my suspension and tires I definitely plan on doing an autocross event!

I get them from www.discounttiredirect.com they carry all the sizes and have free shipping.

wow, falken ownz you on your stock size, they don't have the 615's in 215-45-17. but they do have them in 225-45-17 :D you'd have a wider tire and it's only .18 inches taller, that's what I would go for :D but the other one is $17 a tire cheaper and in your stock size.

ha ha, anthony's tires are like $350 each  but he got them with the rims so he only inherited his baller status :)

so what suspension are you getting?

Well, I was trying to keep it on the DL until I got it installed but I ordered the HFP kit. I've always kind of shy'd away from pre-fit coilovers however I got really lucky and STOLE this kit which I was already leaning towards.

At the last meet which I posted pics of, a guy had the kit installed and I really liked the mild drop and it seems to stiffin it up for sure..

p.s. here is my car parked next to his...It's only a little over an 1" drop. So i won't get owned everyday with my 12 speedbumps.

Yeah, a little sidekick part of the deal is that honda can't give me shiaaaat!

Well, it's not as aggressive persay as the buddly club's however they are pretty stiff. A definite upgrade from the already "sport-tuned" suspension they put on from the factory. I want a little bit of cushion with my ride too. I drive alot during the week. I've met two guys and heard reviews from several who have the kit. Everyone has very good things to say about it.

Also down the road I could swap out the hfp springs for possibly something adjustable.

yeah I figured you were worried about the warrenty you little girl :p it would only void your suspension anyway, they couldn't blame the suspension on AC or engine problems :)

that's cool though, when are you getting the parts?

LOL...Coming from someone who has only owned crx's you OBVIOUSLY haven't tried to get warranty work done wthin the past 15 years.. haha. If you have an aftermarket shift knob they'll blame it for throwing your alignment off! They are fricken retarded. I love that act that states they really have to prove that your aftermarket part caused the damage. I have yet had to bring that out...

Fricken Fedex is always wrong for me when they first ship out the item as far as delivery date. It was SUPPOSED to be here today. However, I come home today and check online and it will be here tommorow. Did the same thing with my lip. hmmm.. Going to have to call the mom and bitch!

FedEx is pOwNing you!

ha ha, nothing is going to break on a honda during the warranty period, it's a honda! :D warranties are for domestic owners to worry about :) besides, I'm a mechanic, way waste my time taking it to some retard at a dealer when I can fix it myself whenever I feel like it
