doesnt look like this prelude board is very active. but ill try any way.

Anyone notice black crap on your rear bumper? and gunky nasty oil when you go to change it? Ive seen the trademark black $hit on the bumper of a lot of preludes.

I never see it blow smoke though, maybe its losing oil elsewhere?

does anyone else have this problem?

if you have exhaust and high flow cat or no cat (test pipe)
you will notice carbon deposits , just needs to be cleaned regularly .
as far as dirty oil , how often are you changing
your oil ? , and are you runnin cheap oil?

yo spongelood. It sounds like your car is burning, probably a leak.. My car doesnt have any black smoke or anything.

as for the test pipe. Rex-Si is right. test pipes do have built ups.

no test pipe... exhaust is stock except for muffler (as per lack of funds). im just saying, ive noticed this same black crap on the back bumper of 9/10 preludes I see. It seems to be more with mine because my tips point up (thus shooting black **** onto my car). it just seems that this is a very common problem among preludes, wondering if anybody has had this problem and fixed it?

should i just say fvck it and sell....

I sure havnt had any problems like this before. I say just sell it and buy somethin else, if's its bothering you. Or you can try 1 last resort. bring it to the honda dealer. LOL

bring it to the honda dealer.... why didnt i think of that? :::::doh::::: i probably should.

its not so much bothering me as it is worrying me. i am just hoping that things arent majorly fvcked up internally. i have no prob with cleaning the back of my car all the time.

It's either bad rings or valves. Preludes seem to go through rings pretty quickly, so i've seen. Mine are shot too. W/I 4 days of washing my car, the bumper is black again. Do a compression test if you wanna check on them.

Who needs VTEC when you got torque?!

so it was up at honda todau getting a new timing belt... the guy doing it checked everything out for me and said it looked completely normal... that it just runs rich as hell like 98% of preludes... ::<img src="http://www.clubhonda.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin::p-->hew:::

MY prelude does the same thing, Just clean it when you can. Also if you have a h22 or h23 your car is a high reving engine you will use more oil and it will be slitly darker when you change it. Check your oil every fill up get a k&n oil filter and that should help.

Yea that true. My lude does burn alot of oil. within the first 1k the oil is already dark. I run mobil syn all the time. But as for the black smoke, I dont get that. Just the white smoke.

K&N, its really expensive, bosch and mobil 1, works just as effective cleaning the engine oil.
