hey whats up guys, i was wondering if someone can help me. my prelude which has 73k miles on it, I been noticing that at every 1k, the car is losing 1 qaurt of oil. and i constantly have to put in 1 quart, i notices right down the disturbution caps, there is some bill up of oil? is there a leak? or do i need a new head gasket? i thought i put this up , before going to a honda shop. thanks guys.

youd know if it was the head gasket, it makes a very distint noise....its a little early for the valve seals to be going, that ussaly happends after 100k. i dunnno, you could have a leak, or it could just be crappy seals and your burning oil. either way it doesnt sound cheap. sorry bro. get it looked at and hope for the best ;)

if your seeing oil at the distributor, then it's probably the rubber O-ring where the distributor connects to the camshaft. that's no big deal, just get the O-ring from the dealer, mark the distributor with white out, there's three bolts holding it on, then replace the O-ring and put it back together, line up your mark and you're set.
if that is the problem, you might want to replace the valve cover gasket too. along with the little gaskets that go on the valve cover around the spark plug holes (they're seperate from the valve cover gasket at the dealer).

the oring/distributor seal is cheap. should cost around 5 bucks or so. but labor is crazy. i just did an entire set of seals on a v6 cressida. a lot of work dude. but distributor on a honda is right there so its easy. and if you can get someone to do it for you thats a plus :D.
