Hey everybody. Last week I change my Oil. Mobil 1 synthic. And just this morning I was checking the oil, dipstick. And my Oil level was at the middle? is that normal? after that I pour in some more and fill it to the top.

you probably checked the oil right after you dropped 4 quarts in the motor. the oil hadnt settled yet.
i always buy 5 quarts when i change my oil and always end up using almost all 5 quarts.

The filter and pump always take nearly a quart of oil, and that quart doesn't count in the specs. If it says 4.2 quarts, you'll need 5. 3.8, you'll need 4.5, and so on. You get to be able to do it without checking once you do it enough.

Also, you will probably never have to chage your oil again with synthetic, but next time you do change oil, use castrol syntec. Mobil oil (is shit) will freeze at -30deg. and boil at 300deg. castrol syntec also has a blend of anti-corrosion and seal moisturizer, and it is better for many high revs. Just my personal experience as a mechanic.

Yo davebabe, I will try that castrol syntec, next time i change my oil. I have always use Mobil 1 cause I thought that it was the best oil out there for my prelude. The manual also suggest that too.
PS, Silver Lude. I got my pictures on a disk. but just 2 lazy too post it up.

DO NOT USE CASTROL SYNTEC... The stuff is absolute crap!
I've been running lab tests and comparing different oils... castrol is actually a very fine dino oil, as opposed to synthetic.
They use a technical loophole to call their petrolium based oil a synthetic oil.

:confused:what?! you will ALWAYS have to change your oil, its basic car maintance  normal oil can last untill 10k miles, but its much much better for your car if you change it every three, synthetic oil should be changed ever 5k miles, but in no way should you ever just leave it in there forever  geez....also you guys should pay really close attention to how much your puting in there, if you over fill the engine with oil than the crankshaft will create a washing machine effect when it roatates and suds will form in your oil, if that happends the oil pump wont be abel to pump the oil and your engine will over heat...if that happends your engine can and most likely will literaly melt into a big gaint paper wieght, pistons and cylnder walls will forge together, your block will glow red..its isnt preaty and its not fun so just be careful, do your home work, and use a little comen sense when changeing your oil...nuff said ;) :p

Hey man, dont worry, I have a prelude too and you just probably put a quart less. If you are changing the oil with the filter, look in your manual, you should use at least aobut 4.7 quarts. So you should try buying about 5 Quarts. It should be fine!!!

I dont know how the weather is in florida. But here in ny its like low 30's most of the time now. and I get my ass out there to change my oil.
whoever said to change your oil at every 5 or 10k. Doode your on the wrong track. at most i would say it 3k. your trying to blow up your car or something man. at 3k. your oil is shot.
