Could someone please explain the pros and cons of each please? Also what do SOHC and DOHC stand for? Oh yeah and what is the technical difference?

first SOHC - single over head cam
DOHC - Duel over head cam
pros- DOHC- more power, handle more power.
cons- dohc- heavy????
pros - SOHC- light weight???
cons- sohc - harder to make fast, more money to fix up, due to rebuilding to reinforce the extra power in the little SOHC..

on the DOHC motor, you're starting with more power and there's more aftermarket support for it, so parts are easier and cheaper to get.
with the SOHC, you're starting with less power, and there's fewer aftermarket companies making parts, you can still get everything, you'll just be waiting for things to be custom made and paying more $$$.
SOHC doesn't always = suck
in accordy2g's case, the stock accord motor put out 150-155 hp and torque. and with the turbo kit (which was cheaper than the H22A swap) we got the car into mid/low 14's (down from mid/low 16's).

on the sohc honda motors they have rocker arms to get to the exhaust valves, the cam pushes directly on the intake valve side. I'm assuming that since the dohc motors don't use the rocker arms the there's a benifit to not having them. my guess would be less weight to move around for the higher rpms. usually less moving valvetrain = more power. I'm not 100% sure, anyone else?

i remember hearing something about since there are two cams, one for intake , one for exhaust it's more efficient so theres more power to be concentrated on.having seperate cams to handle the intake/exhaust duties would make more sense in respect to power, instead of one cam handling both.. plus it looks a hell of a lot cooler having a DOHC valve cover. that's all.
why won't my roommates ever answer the damn phone?!!
