Sup Everyone. I was hoping someone can answer a question for me. I have a 99 honda civic EX and I have a few after market parts, AEM cold Air intake, Tanabe Super Racing Medallon Exhaust. Getting The DC Sports Headers next. but anyway I was going to put 93 octane gas thinking it would give alittle more power to my car. buy my friend said civics run better with just plus and not supreme gas. but then another friend said that with the air intake and exhaust I have more air coming in and out the car so I want hi octane to burn better .... What do you guys out there recommand using PLUS or Supreme Gas ?

My accord used nothing but 93 octane from the day i drove it off the lot. Theres a big debate whether or not its better, but its deffinately is cleaner gas. Especially with FI you want the higher octane rating to prevent detonation and pinging in your engine. My opinion is to use the 93 octane cause it does burn hotter therefore theoretically giving you a bit more power, but thats my opinion.

93?!?! the highest i have ever seen here in San Diego is 91...you guys are lucky...here is how our gas goes: 87, 89, 91

i always USED the 91 in my civic EX with a AEM CAI, STP exhaust...until i crashed it 3 days ago :(

well i cant say much for civics, but i will say that my mustang runs a lot smoother on 87, im gonna bump it up to premium next time i fill up and see what it does. most cars today are suposed to use cheaper gas, but the way gas is being made lately its a wonder our cars run at all  check your owners manual, it should tell you what type of gas is right for your car, and if it runs fine on that, then use it;)

just because i sit outside your house at night taking pictures of you while you sleep doesnt mean im a stalker.....it means im a fan!

the octane rating is actually a measurement of the gas' resistance to detonation. that's why cars that come form the factory with higher compression (10.0:1 and up) have the nice little "premium unleaded only" signs on the gas cap :)

I would say it may not add a noticable amount of power, but I know I got better milage on my old accord with the premium, so that made up for the price difference. plus I felt better putting in clean 93 octane :D

this is correct, the higher the octane the slower the burn of the fuel due to higher compression. more octane does not give you more power. it's purpose is to provide your motor with what it needs to perform to its best. So most honda engines are of higher compression ratios so they require slower burning fuel to compensate and not "ping". A truck on the other hand usually is of lower compression requireing faster burning fuel.

true, here we also get 95 and 98, leaded and diesel. We dont get 93 here

Not to mention for 98 octane here goes for about 1.25 euros (about the same in USD) per liter. Calculating it you would be paying about $4.68 per gallon. How does that sound to u in the US?

by using 93 octane on your civic you're just making your wallet lighter (maybe that's why it feels faster j/k)

seriously though, if you don't have FI, higher compression or advanced timing you don't need to spend the extra money on 93. if it makes you feel better then by all means do it.

I use either 87 or 89 octane and my car runs just fine, just use a high quality fuel injector cleaner (BG44K) every 4th oil change or 12,000 miles and you'll be just fine.

you guys suck j/k over at the Haffners in hudson and plaistow we can get Cam2 110 Octane, its mostly guys with speed bikes that use it. Ive heard that unless you have a very high compression engine like a crazy NA setup or a motor with a lot of boost like 15lbs or more it wil actually foul up your system...ive been running 89 in my LS for awhile now and have been avg'ing around 30mpg ill try 89 and 93 for a bit and asee what i get

218K all original everything
