Ok, I just bought a 95 civic ex w/an aem cai and dc sport header 2 1/2 back to apexi n1 exhaust. My problem is in vtec 2nd and 3rd gear, above like 5800 it will make a a different sound that comes and goes... very hard to describe... and it is louder when i hit bumps??/!! kind of sounds like a 2-stroke.. bwaaaaaAAaaaAAaAAA then i shift... Anybody else hear this noise from their CAI?

like a raspy buzzing noise? like a weed whacker?
that would be a engine hitting the upper RPM range. it makes that noise toword the "top" because it's being piped out of a muffler that sounds like crap. don't get me wrong it could be a great muffler as far as +HP and looks, but may times, in R&D, something is sacrificed, or overlooked. apperntly sound tuning was it for apexi.

and just to be safe, i'd have it looked at. it may be time for a tune up.

I wondered about the vtec too, but it really is bump sensetive, i found that out going around a car that was turning left and i hit a pothole while i was hitting it in 2nd, the noise was much worse... maybe i'm leaking air somewhere??????

It was the tires i guess?!! I got a set of potenzas on there because the wires were showing through the inside... Need a camber kit badly (any suggestions were to get it/have it installed cheap?). The tires are awesome. The rain handling is great, didn't hydroplane at 70 on the freeway in heavy rain... And the sound has mysteriously dissapeared. I guess the sound was the tires spinning and the wires ripping out of them whenever i was way up in vtec :p I was lucky they didn't blow... 3 month toyos...lol

i say you get underneath your car and start tightening down all the bolts starting from your header down to the axel back...good luck

something I was noticing as cleaning the filter was a small thing missing from in my wheel wells. Isn't there plastic damn inside the wheel well to protect the air intake and such? Mine is gone daddy gone, how important is this/what should I do to replace it...?
