I personally like the aem or iceman intakes, just becuase I know they would fit perfect and use a k&n brand filter. but as long as there's a quality filter, there's little difference from one intake kit to another.
I would definately pay more for a cold air intake over the short ram, just so you're always getting fresh air to the motor.

AEM is by far the best CAI in my opinion. As long as u don't live where it floods, u'll be fine, unless u get the bypass valve. I'm really satisfied with my AEM CAI. Especially the sweet noise it makes when it hits vtec. U'll really enjoy it. It'll be the best mod u'll ever buy to ur car that'll be worth every penny!

sup man, I can get you a AEM or Iceman brand cold air intake for $200 shipped, let me know if you're interested. if you want a different brand like Aerospeed, it would be less, about $150 shipped.
