Hello, I have a 1989 Honda Civic LX 1.6L and want to do some upgrades to it. I don't know were to begin though, so I was wondering if any of you had some ideas. I want high performance over looks at the moment. I just put in a K&N FIPK and that made a little difference, but I want to be able to down shift and get thrown back in the seat. Also I don't have lots of money, but am willing to save up for the best if that is what is recommended.

well i belive that you still have that 89 engine in it right??
if so get rid of that tired old motor and save up for a B18C, that should throw you back in your seat a bit!, plus it will be 10X faster and alot cheaper in the long run.

its a integra GS-R motor, its a DOHC VTEC, with about 180hp (JDM) or 170hp (USDM) very nice motor to build from, and the aftermarket world for this engine is endless!

yea hte price runs from 2500-up or you can get a b16a (civic si motor) for around 1300-1800 from diff store and online dealers the choice is yours. Personally the GSR is a better motor but you need to decide if its worth the extra money. In the meantime feed ur existing motor with the "BOTTLE"

yeah, the B16A (1.6L DOHC VTEC, 170hp) will give your car a nice boost in speed. plus it's very affordable for your car, you can get the entire swap (engine, tranny, ecu, axles, shift linkage, etc.) for about $1,200 plus shipping. honestly that's going to be your best bang for the buck, and it's a better motor to upgrade than your stock one.
but if you're not looking to spend that much, or don't want to swap your motor, you could look into a used JRSC kit, or like accordy2g said, get Mr. Bottle.
